Man I have been trying for hours to use a new program that will enable me to make custom parts for DOGA and I just can't seem to get it. It is a very limited freeware program, but it does have some nice features. But even after hours of fiddling with it I have nothing to show for it.

I priced a few 3d programs, 3d Max 6, Lightwave, etc and man those are so fricking expensive that they are not cost effective for me to purchase. I would have to get paid for making things, and before I could even do that, I would have to learn how to use the programs and Photoshop. Not to mention other support programs.

I hear that Moray is going to have Direct X supported rendering added eventually so that will be an added bonus for those who know moray.

I would like to learn 3d max 6 and photoshop but the learning curve and associated cost of learning it are too steep.

wings3d is free, and reasonably powerful. It exports to 3ds, which can be converted to .x. http://www.wings3d.com/

The GIMP is free, and supposedly quite powerful. Don't have a link handy.

The Gimp is not as good as Adobe Photoshop though. All it has going for it is batching...

It is also a couple hundred dollars less expensive. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif Might also try Paint Shop Pro.
