Straight off the bat it sounds like a graphics screen repaint problem.

Do you have music turned on but with a different CD in the drive? This may cause the hiccups you describe.

Can anyone help a computer virgin like me with a problem I have with SEIVG.

I have just reinstalled it. Downloaded the latest patch and the latest TDM Modpack. Game is fine, save that it seems to freeze every few minutes for a couple of seconds. Dunno why it does this, but it is a little bit of a pain.

Anyone know why this is? and whether or not there is a quick fix? please provide any solution in baby language for me.

My system is an Athlon 3.2 system, tons of harddrive, a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card, Audigy II platinum sound card, and runs on Windows XP professional

Narratio - I have no idea what a graphics screen repaint problem is. Is that a problem with my graphics card?

Captain Kwok. I think I have the SEIVG CD in the drive, but what I will do is take it out and turn the music off. I dont like all those wretched wibbly noises anyhow. I keep on thinking I have an upset stomach!!

Update your video card drivers and Direct X drivers.

Second see what programs are running in the back ground. On some atholon systems anti virus software will cause problems when running a game.

You can also unistall and reinstall.

Defrag your HD

Run without having the CD in.

Try em all and see what works.

you don't need the cd in to play the game, also turn off the music in the options section. Update drivers (but be careful, go to the manufacterer site for download, don't use windows update, I did and it messed up my whole system.

Good luck

You might need more memory for it - i guess the updates add more complexity but at the same time takes longer to progress each turn (hence the couple of seconds freeze) like to see future patches address this issue.

Who built the system? What chipset is it?

Dunno i guess more chipsets should be incorparated in the SEIV patches and SEV game when it is realised.

SEIV is capable of running (albiet slowly) perfectly fine on old, old systems. RAM is not the issue (unless you are just barely in the MB range, of course).

GT, try uninstalling the game and mods and then do a clean reinstall, could be you got a bad download file/s somewhere or, I have read in other forums, where those using the Radon graphics card had problems with some of their games, could be the graphics card itself

Guys, thanks for the responses. Simply turning off the sound sorted it.

Doh!!!
