Confused bout space empires4 and space empires4 gold?

Hello All,
I have space empires4 when it first came out and now i see theres a space empires 4 gold.
Do i have to buy the gold Version even though i bought the original Version?

SE4 Gold is a separate product that must be purchased. All of the latest patch updates are for Gold only. Most mods nowadays only work in Gold, as it has greatly expanded modding options. Mods such as Proportions and AIC are only possible in Gold, as there were several critical settings allowed to be modded in Gold.

If you want to upgrade past the Last patch that was released for the pre-Gold Version (1.49), yes. I'd recommend it if you think you might play more than a little bit - there are tons of things fixed, improved, and added in Gold.
