I'm just wondering if anyone knows if you can make cloaking devices cumulative (by changing the family or some such) I haven't gotten a chance to try it but I figured someone here might have before.

On a side note, thanks shrapnel for getting it so I can log in again.

No, the most you will ever get is a cloak equal to the highest ability cloaking device on your ship. That's hard coded. Works the same way with multiple storms in a sector.

Yeah, i tried to make a partial mod that changes the cloaking / detection to 'better'. No luck http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Only thing i could do was to make new modules that cloak at lvl 4+ of one type and 1-3 on other types.

It was not really that usefull untill late game when u can fit all 5 modules (200 kt each) in 1 ship, and have a ship that cannot be detect (other than those minefields suddenly gone missing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif .

You can however add cloaking of the five different types: EM active, EM passive, gravitational, psychic and temporal.
E.g. you have two cloaking component on a ship. The first EM active level 3, EM passive level 3, gravitational level 2, temporal level 1, psychic level 1. The second EM active level 2, EM passive level 2, gravitational level 3, temporal level 3 and psychic level 3.
This gives the ship a cloaking level 3 in all five types but not more than that.

The highest level of each cloaking ability is used to get the overall cloaking level of a ship. So you can even do things like have Cloaking Device 3 have level 3 cloaking in all areas, and then have Stealth Armor give up to level 4 cloaking in whichever ability it uses, thus making it possible to have cloaked ships completely undetectable by some of the cloaking types. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The PBW Version of P&N has the most developed cloaking system I have seen thus far.
