This is no doubt a side project from your mod's weapon balancing? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Actually, it was spawned by IRC commments...
I'll be doing the reverse process for most of my mod's weapons.
However it will be useful when I get to the tweaking stage.

See what great things come as a result of the #se4 IRC channel (http://se4irc.spaceempires.net/)? Now don't you all want to stop by? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Great work SJ!

Does the "power" include the kT used by the weapon, too?

True Power = dmg/kt/reload
Pulse Power = dmg/kt
Punch = dmg
- True power is the most important for most situations.
- Pulse power comes into play for hit and run.
- Punch is very important against leaky shields and crystalline armor.

By "leaky shields" do you mean emissive armor ability effects?

Leaky armor typically uses crystalline/shield combos, but yes, emissive is another excellent example.

Heh ya,
For the techno illiterate how do I view the file?
And for the quick answer what are the best one shot weapons?
Cheers.

PvK <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">it also refer's to taking the armor ability out of the armor and increasing the hitpoints. more hitpoints means an unporportionally higher chance of being hit.

Leaky armor is just components with no ability that have lots of hit points, so they have a higher chance of being hit over other "internals," but there is no guarantee as with regular "armor."

Very cool SJ. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Ya, because of Mirc fyron got 110 new organic components. (He has to set them up for use with the Image mod though.)

a good idea for modders to add this file weaponscomparison.txt to their mods so people can take a look

Cheers. <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Open the zip with winzip (http://www.winzip.com) or winrar (http://rarlabs.com/download.htm).
Double click the execultable inside to start it.
Click the left button to open a file; choose your components.txt
The center list will fill with info over a period of a few seconds.
Press the right button to save it as a text file instead of just on the screen.

you know what would be cool on this program... the ablility to sort it via your different calculations.
Do compairsons... on weapons.
Also the ablility to click on the weapon and see its current stats
ANd then finally... the ablility to mod the file... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
and perhaps a few more windows on each family http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

and from fyron
An option to show only the most advanced of each weapon family would be very handy

And post it to a database or a csv friendly txt file for fyron http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

ummm...maybe I'm just missing something but how do you get this to work??
I unzip it and then double click on the exe and get a 'component 'COMDLG32.OCX' not correctly registered: file is missing or invalid.

Just try a search on Google for something like "download comdlg32.ocx" and you should turn up something, that's what I did http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
edit wrong ocx

I had to include those with my slotmodder, so that's probably the easiest way to get them:
http://imagemodserver.mine.nu/starfury/SFslotmodder_with_dlls.zip
You can put them in the windows/system folder, but they'll work perfectly well if you place them in the same spot as the program itself.
