View Full Version : To all that use FQM!

SE4 always uses the first system entry in SystemTypes.txt to fill in rounding errors and such when making maps. I added dummy systems to my FQM files to make it easier to find the various groupings of system types, but it wants to use my dummy "Stock Standard Systems" as an actual system in-game, as it is the first system. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif I reported this to MM months ago, but apparently forgot to update FQM, and nobody ever mentioned it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
Solution:
This will NOT affect PBW compatibility in the slightest, as SystemTypes.txt is ONLY read when the map is created, and never again. Delete this entry from your SystemTypes.txt file, in both FQM Standard AND FQM Deluxe:
Name := Stock Standard Systems
Description := ***PLACEHOLDER. Not to be used in-game.***
System Physical Type := Normal
Background Bitmap := Starmap.bmp
Empires Can Start In := FALSE
Mask Background Objs := TRUE
Non-Tiled Center Pic := FALSE
Number of Abilities := 0
WP Stellar Abil Type := Unstable Warp Point
Number of System Objs := 0

Bump. Because this seems important and Fyron doesn't need to pad his post count as much as I do.

Ya I sent him a message about his yestarday. I got one of those systems. (Updated the file for STM v1.5.1 Fix though.)
FQM is a very good mod and one that I use nearly every time I play.

Heh ya Fyron.
Do you have planet/atmosphere distribution for 2.08? Just wondering if any are favoured thats all.
P.S Love the Mod.
Fyron
February 8th, 2004, 12:45 AM
No I do not. The distribution is not too far off of that in stock. Andres Lescano did a distribution a while back and posted it on the forums, though I do not recall where exactly. Maybe it was in the FQM thread?

Fyron: The B5 Mod 2.0 also wants to use the FQM, but the current Version of The Mod has a special B5 quadrant variant. Would you be interseted to include these into the FQM?
I'll send you the files you need to see for this quadrant.

Why is this page displaying all screwed up. Everyone's Posts after the top Posts, are pushed way to the right side leaving their avatar colum way extended out.
It looks horrid.

Same here, Timstone signature threw everything out of balance, as his code isn't taken into account, so it says: [URL=A very long URL]. I am using Firefox (formerly Firebird), if it helps you to see why it doesn't work.

Ah, I see what you are talking about. IE is handling it ok, so that's why I don't see a problem I guess. At least it's wrapping when it hits the end of the line. Isn't showing the link properly.
Fyron

That is because UBB code sucks, and can not handle URLs with too many special characters in them. Use html tags instead!
Timstone, I will look into it. I thought that all the B5 special quadrants had (that was special) was the hyperspace systems?

Sorry about the sig. I corrected it now. But I'm still trying to get it right. If anyone has a solution to the sig problem, please tell me.
The B5 quadrants have the Hyperspace sectors in them and more that usual habitable rock planets. Also some methane based planets for the ancients. I don't know who made it, must be Val or Pathfinder. I really wouldn't know.
About the Image Mod. I noticed a few images we use for the B5 Mod aren't in there. I shall seek them out and post them to you, okay?
Fyron

Use HTML.
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;"><a href="http://www.site.com">link text</a></pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana"> I shall seek them out and post them to you, okay?
<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Ok. A list of image numbers will suffice. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Thanks for the html stuff, I'm trying it now. Hope it works.
Okay, I'll send you the info this evening.
Hmm... Fyron, I did something wrong with the sig. Could you fix it? Just copy the geekcode and paste it onto Troopers site:
Troopers geekcode decoder (http://diesel2035.free.fr/geek/geek.htm?BDecode=decode&geek=)

Is this what you are trying to do? I don't know if this type of html code will work in a sig, but it works fine when posting.

Val did the B5 quadrant.

Since Val did it, I don't think he would mind if we use it in the FQM. Don't you guys?

Another question about the Systemnames.txt. Is there a Version with ALL the different systemnames that have been created? If yes, where can I get it?
Fyron
March 17th, 2004, 10:23 PM
No, but the one in FQM has most of them. You can merge them together and use Excel or Word possibly to sort them and remove duplicates. I believe that Star Trek Mod and B5 Mod have lots of system names that are not in FQM. Not sure how many other mods out there modify the system names.

Some time ago there was a topic about this. Someone took the job to collect as many shipnames and sector names as possible. Who did that and where did the data went? I believe it was SJ who conducted the collection.

Erm... I know that I went on a mission to collect all of the design names files, for Design Names Anthology (http://dna.spaceempires.net/). I also went on a short mission to collect more system names... but nothing was specific to Babylon 5, so this may all be irrelevant. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Fyron: Have you been working on the implementation of the B5 Standard quadrant into the FQM? And what about the Image Mod, have you already included the images I send you?
I would like to use the FQM and the Image Mod in the B5 Mod 2.0. There is no rush, but I would like to use it.

Fyron, i found something odd in FQM, meybe i't's only in my Version but....
First, what i installed: FQM Deluxe, with all the imagepacks (Planetpack, componentpack, facilitypack, etc.)
Now, when i generate a map (255 max systems, large, dense, with few asteroid fields), some systens have small, and tiny planets, with ruins, that don't appear in the system map... I only located them because they appear in the Plaents (F4) screen, under Special...
If i select them in the F4 screen i am sent to the system screen, but withou any planet selected... if i send a colony ship to that planet the colony ship goes to that system, and appera to go to off-screen...
Anyone found this problem?

Can you send me a map or savegame that does this to admin spaceempires net (insert @ and .)?

Sent the files, take a special look in the planets Tlunofo X and Promith I (You only will be able to find them in the F4 menu).
Thanks

Fyron has the shipname files compilation at Spaceempires.net.
I think Andres had the mega-system names file on his site (Kuat Drive Yards), I don't know what the status of that is. I think I have a copy on my HD, however...

Andres and I combined our system name files some time ago. You can get it from FQM, both standard and deluxe.
http://fqm.spaceempires.net/
You can get 300+ design names files from Design Names Anthology. Make sure to send me any files you have that I am missing! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
