Hi, I've been lurking for some time now, but I've never figured out what the main differences are between the two Star Trek mods. It seems like Atrocities is working on both of them at the same time...
Thanks

To me, it seems it is something along the lines of Atrocities Star Trek Mod is a ST-flavored mod in a stock SE4-like environment, whereas Star Trek Mod is more of an attempt to change the game significantly to get a more immersive ST feel. I am sure others could provide better detail. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I've been playing the ST Mod for the most part, but after getting the patch yesterday, I started an AST game Last night. There are differences. I think the ST Mod has more technology. But try them both and make up your own opinion.

AST versus STM....Well, I'm still confused. I am still playing both of them and I'm not sure what the differences are, other than some techs. What effects that has on the game I haven't figured.

I think the difference is in the 'spelling' (well, STM and AST ARE spelled differently aren't they?)

AST mod uses most of the STOCK seiv technology with some race specific technology.
STM is a complete conVersion from graphics to the tech tree.
Both mods are differant enough that they do not compete.
STM is better suited to PBW games than the AST mod.
Play them both and you will see the differances.

Are both MODS still being worked on? For a newbie, which MOD is better to play with for starters?
I'm a huge Star Trek, Star Wars fan, so both MOD's are high on my list once I get SEIV Gold. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

AST is more similar to stock se4, so it is easier to get accustomed to.

It is a never ending project. Even after I give up on it and move on to something else, someone else will pick up the peaces and move on.
The AST mod is also now being worked on again. I am helping when I have time, but mostly CNC is doing the work on it.

I like them both (AST - STM) but my favorite is STM, because its more ST and less stock techs. And so it is suited better for role-playing, which I prefer.

BTW. Maybe an idea to start such a new game (STM / Role-playing)
Somebody interested ????????????????

I look forward to playing both when I get the game! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
