These are just a concept for a new race.

Spiffy!
I like the blue scheme more myself since it shows off the etching on the top of the hull (wing joints) much better than the red models. Maybe they can be an offshoot Race for the Starwolf Clan?

I have not decided yet. The ship designs are an offshoot of the new Romulan ships I made for the STM mod, but this design was in play before I used a cusin of it for the Romulans. I just recolored it and spiffed it up a tad for something to do.
I am thinking about making another machine race. I am thinking of calling them the Centurions.

very good ships.
but and i'm just asking, why do you almost always put wings on?

Because they look cooler sometimes! Imagine what those ships would look like without wings... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Without wings now there is an idea to pursue.

These particular ships would look pretty silly without wings...

yes, however, most of his ships have wings and i was wondering why.

Maybe the wings are for taking off and landing on a planet with an atmosphere.

i just had a thought: how would you land on a planet with no atmosphere? it may actually be harder.

All future spacecraft will have some sort of wing-shape structures. Just take a look on the NASA concept nuclear-powered probe for Jupiter/Saturn survey !

Nice work, AT! I like the blue one the best; it just looks meaner then the red one does. And if it is going to be a machine race would be more fitting, IMO. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

AT, I like those pictures. Keep to the red. I think we have enough gun-metal grey ships as it is.

I suggest you just make 2 variations of the race, one red and one blue, so everybody is happy.

I agree with Fyron. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
If you order the ships in numbers as </font><blockquote><font size="1" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">1 2
3 4</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Then ship 3/4 (same one) I think the main capsule is a little small in relation to the rest of the ship. But I still like the ships very much. I look forward to the rest of the images.

That is a side effect of the resizing, when I render for real I will compensate.

Really nice ships AT, now, if the forward pod in your Last ships was a fighter that could detach it would be nifty. In fact, make copies of the pod and put 3-4 back to back as a fighter carrier.
Again, nice work. (hmmm, I still ave some rusty paint left over don't make them too shiny or I might spray them. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) LOL
Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Can you imagine you're about to launch into battle, and some gangbanger has spray-painted your shiny ship with some gang slogan? Hey, I just had an idea. Maybe someone can mod that for a sabotage/espionage type of thing, in which morale can be affected by graffitti.

i like the red ones better.

Ya gotta use a lighter color so the details on the hull can stand out more.
How about pale yellows, light browns, or cammoflage greens?
David's idea for the Carrier sounds good aswell.

The problem is the POD is actually the same size for all things, (The resizing of a ship made the pod smaller on one.) from the race through the largest ship. So I guess the larger the ship, the smaller the pod will look. (Although this one was by accident it did make me think.) Tenatively that is, as I really don't know if I will ever complete this set.
Right now it is all just very conceptual.
You know, robots building robots and such.
