GAME OVER!
The Kilrah and the Nyxian has achieved a shared victory by partnership, the Kilrah has more than 300% of the second players score.
And so the game quits, there is no possibility to continue.
Glory to the winners!

I've set up a Last turnfile on my server with open passwords so that all can view the others empires.

The open turn is at the adress:
http://ruatha.homelinux.org/ngc3.zip
and the passwords are:
Player:Password
1 - Sweden :262363
2 - Katamaran Service :265227
3 - Thermolian :888956
4 - Dravens :334372

It was fun playing with you all. Those who aren't playing in NGC4 I'd recommend to check out AlarikF's planned 20 player huge universe game at the shrapnel forum at adress:

Se ya all in the future, and I hope you had a good time.

Darned, a couple of turns more and an alliance of 10 empires would have fallen on the Kilrah in an organized attack.
But it would propably had been in vain!

But it would propably had been in vain! <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hard to say... the Kilrah empire is somewhat large, and even altough Roanon had already build some warp line "highways", it would have taken him some time to react to the attack. So with enough initial combat victories you *might* have been able to send enough planets into riot to severely hurt his economy - this would have affected the whole Alliance. Eg my empire was totally dependend on the trade incomes from Kilrah. Major cutbacks would have sent my empire into chaos, and would have hurt my military strength *very* badly...

On the other hand, Roanon was producing 30 *baseships* and 40 battleships *per turn*! According to your words, it would have taken at least 3 more turns until the first strikes, maybe more (3-8 turns you said IIRC). Let's assume 5 turns, that would have been 150 baseships and 200 battleships, in addition to his already immense armada.

Not to count my own fleet, and of course several hundred talisman-equipped battlecruisers and battleships of Nyxian.

Well, you're probably right. Chances for the Alliance of Free Worlds would have been slim anyway... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I hate those score wins. Game ends just when things are getting interesting. The best victory condition I've seen is in Fyron's Adamant game: When it seems right to end the game.

Btw, is there the score win option in NGC4?

The win condition in NGC4 is only "When all agree upon a winner (Or team of two as
winners)" (All players left agree!)

To whomever took over my Trandosian empire in NGC3, how did you fair in the game? I started out with a couple of good ruin planets and no close enemies, but with None atmosphere, I had somewhat bad luck in the beginning with not too many planets to colonize. Unfortunately, I was forced to bail out (due to real life time constraints) somewhere around turn 80 just as my neighbors were starting to poke at me to test the borders. I'd really like any feedback on how well or how terrible you thought my empire setup and initial expansion was.

Nobody attacked you Slick, although I was considering it, and would have taken over your Empire if it wasn't for the East Alliance which was slightly more dangerous. I don't know how was your Empire when you left it, but it did suffer from AI leadership and was much weaker at the end of the game according to my intelligence.

My own Empire was built over a gold mine, with the Talisman and a lot of systems (only Kilrah had more systems, and the Swedes had about as many), and they could have been quite a lot stronger without the AI leadership and my own silliness. They were mainly behind in technology and space yards, and so had a few hundred outdated light cruisers. (About 400 equipped with PPB, with effective APB coming Online a few turns later.) Does anyone know a good course for this subject: "How to properly rule an Empire in the age of space travel"? Thanks in advance. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

FYI, A new 20 Player PBW game, slightly different to the NGC series but incorporating lessons from it, has been started (as has NGC4, by the way).

It was requested that I mention this on this thread as many NGC3 players might want to get in on the game.

It's listed on PBW under "Zeta Quadrant" and the thread is at:

Thanks, and sorry for the cross-post
