Again with my neverending search to get a working AI.
The symptom:
- AI is fine for the beginning & middle game.
- AI continues to build units like mad, stops building ships.
- AI has plenty of Ship Yards, and a plethora of resources, yet will not build ships.
- AI stops expanding, obviously, for lack of ships.
I'm sure there aren't any extra carriage returns in my AI files. Any ideas?

How many ships are in the fleet when this happens, and how does this relate to the numbers asked for in the AI construction file?

I just loaded the game, and checked.
He has no ships. He *did*, but I blew up his remaining ships. He should have had alot more by the time I arrived we met.
Anyway.
His stats:
290,000 Minerals & Radioactives
90,000 Organics
0 Ships
1913 assorted units.

Try looking at the AI planet’s mood level. Also look at your AI construction vehicles file, especially the AI State that covers defense.

The AI construction file is identical to another race that has 156 ships, and going strong.
I'm not sure mood has anything to do with it. The race has 30+ Space Yards, and there are no ships in the queue. A few units, but no ships.

Maybe you have ordered to build to many units. The AI will try to meet the requirement but if there is not enough cargo space available it cannot produce the units but will not proceed down the build list either.
I would have to see the file to say more.

Ok. I've completely destroyed all units with this race, and continued on to see if it would start to build ships. Unfortunately, it went on to build even more units.

Which file would help you help me? Could I post portions of the file?

Rollo figured out the problem for me.. And I'm too embarrased to say what it was..

Id like to see the next SE4 patch have a more competitive AI esp in the diplomacy area and to have it pursue technology exchanges, planet exchanges and ship exchanges etc. More adaptable and aggressive in that area - is there a way to mod the AI files to make it more like i am after.
