View Full Version : B5Mod - missing .txt file elements

I've recently reinstalled Space Empire IV Gold so I could try out the Babylon 5 Mod. I updated it to patch 1.49, downloaded the B5ModCore30, B5ModData30, and mod updates 31, 32 and 33. I created a directory for them and installed them in order. I installed the mod launcher program.

I tried to run the mod and ran into a series of error Messages about missing elements in the settings.txt file such as min and max number of computer and neutral players, drone supply and fighter supply usage and others. I was able to locate the lines in the original games settings.txt file and copy them over into the B5Mod settings.txt file. Now it loads to 64% then kicks back that a large number of values are missing from the components.txt file.

I've done several searches through the forums to see if anyone else hit this problem and didn't have any luck finding anything. I can see from the humber of Posts here that quite a few people are using the mod so I know it works.

Is there another mod which needs to be installed in addition to the B5Mod? Any suggestions?

The Bab5 mod you have is for Space Empires IV CLASSIC 1.49! It will not work with Space Empires IV GOLD, which is all Versions beyond 1.49. You cannot convert Gold back to 1.49 or anything like that.

I'm not sure if there is a Bab5 mod for Gold, but check the Bab5 thread to see if someone has updated a copy of the mod to Gold specs.

There is definitely a gold Version of the B5mod available, but you might have to dig down a few pages in the B5mod thread to find the links.

Thanks for the info. Didn't have any luck finding a gold mod, found links to two B5 mods but the .txt files were wrong in both.

I think I can modify the files sufficiently to get it to play on the gold Version without too much trouble, just tedious with all the typing.

Thanks again,

Mark

You would have to go back in the B5 thread to about Last June and see a post or two by me with the Last B5 Gold update links.

Maybe this will help:
