The first rule of Free Orion Club is that you don't talk about Free Orion Club!

How can there be a pre-alpha Version of anything??? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
I'm sure it's crude, but it's out so we drooling fans can see it and tinker with it. I'm also sure I'll yield to the temptation to download it soon. But maybe I can hold off long enough to get .2 and skip the foibles .1 is inevitably going to have. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'll probably dl it just to see what it looks like. But like Baron won't expect too much with such an early Version. In fact if they had some screen shots posted somewhere I wouldn't have to do that. Of course that would defeat the purpose of getting play testers. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

all this Version has is a nice map with a cool interface. you can build stuff, but it won't appear.
the galaxy is beautiful though. it would be nice if seV was that pretty http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Edit: i didn't realize that to interact with your fleets you have to double click on the little triangle in the upper right corner of the system. If you do play this, amke sure you read the known issues page so that you don't do silly things that crash your game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Hmmm, I can't seem to get it working. I downloaded and installed but when I select my map and press 'ok' it just takes me to a screen with stars and some green clouds and it does nothing after that. Am I not waiting long enough or what? It seems that by using my mouse I can slightly move the view of the stars around a bit but nothing more then that. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/confused.gif

nope, that's it. in the release notes they mention that you don't start zoomed in on your home system, so you have to finf it. the bast way to do that (IMO) is to just zoom out a bit (use your mousewheel) and scroll around the map, looking for stars with names that are in colors other than white (to scroll left click & hold and then move the map around).

I'll stick in a plug for Explorer of the Universe (http://sourceforge.net/projects/exuniverse/) here... slow going but not much worse off than FreeOrion it seems http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

You will find my username on the forums over there - im contributing and giving them SE4 as ideas to be implemented or at least explored as an alternative idea source to MOO3 which was useless.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this is pretty exciting. It's a free MOO game .. well.. an early Version of one at least. Give it a try!
(not to mention it looks pretty cool)
maybe a link would help too....

Yes, since I told them what program I used to make the images I made, they now have a DOGA forum. LOL. The ship models in there are... first run of course. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
I remember the days when I first started using DOGA and thought it was the greatest gift to man since SEIV.
But now, what can I say but .... I want to learn 3dmax and lightwave.

Those are nice programs. Might as well sign on to #se4. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
