I've been playing the game using alot of intel tactics, stealing ships, plaguing, sabatoge, along with all out mayhem against the enemy A.I. In particular, I've been annoying the Kithra. But now that I have them where I want, I can't kill them. I point to attack but nothing. I have no treaties and I pronounced myself at war with them. What gives? The only thing I can do is have them surrender. Oh joy! Oh how I love rioting planets. Anyway, is this a glitch? I literally can't attack anything of theirs. My weapons and armor are 3 x's better than theirs. Please help.

so you click on one of your ships or fleets, and then you click on attack, and then you click on the target (be it enemy planet, ship, whatever). your ship or fleet should then move to and engage the target, right?

what part of that isnt working? does your ship have movement left? does it have any movement at all? is it out of supplies, or did you forget to put engines in it?

if the attack button isnt working, try moving your fleet over an enemy target, like a planet. moving into the same sector should cause a battle to begin.

also, check your strategies. if battle is starting but the there is no fighting, maybe your ships are set to 'dont-get-hurt'

Nope...none of what you suggested worked . I have engines and I'm 3 systems away from my nearest system. All my ships are in working order, I have Quantum Reactors. When I put ships over a planet it doesn't start a battle. It does glitch for a nano-second though, as if it acknowledged the purpose of the move or that I was there in an area where it should do something.

Have they surrendered to you?

Are you playing a Simultaneous game (where your orders are executed at the end of the turn) or a Tactical game (where your orders are immediately executed)? If it is the former, the battle should occur when the turn is proceeded, and you should have the battle report when you play your next turn.

If it is a Tactical game, a window should prompt you whether you want to handle this battle yourself (that is a tactical battle, where you command your ships on your own) or leave leadership to the AI (strategical battle).

I apologize for asking this question, but are you sure the ships/planets you wish to capture/destroy belong to the enemy? I made this mistake once, and desperately tried to destroy my *own* ships. No wonder it didn't work for me then. As you have been using Intelligence, you might have taken possession of former enemy ships, even if these keep their old look. Hope it helps!

Uhhhhhhh.....Is there a delete area for Posts...?
Or how about the most stupid area. I can't believe what a dunce I am. Let's say you're playing Space Empires and you're doing exactly what I said in my previous post. Answer: maybe you should be firing on the enemy instead of your treaty partners. The reason I couldn't nuke any of my opposition is because they were of a different race. The color symbols of their empire were the same. They were also in the same quadrants. I found this out after looking at the race's flags. I feel like a dope.

Yes, what Karibu said. We have all made mistakes in this game. Many of us have built ships with no engines (I haven't done that one, yet) or we have built colonies with no population (done that one many times)
So don't feel bad, it's all part of the learning process. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Continuing to press the attack button doesn't seem to work... then I realize that these aren't the guys I just declared war on.
