View Full Version : back in business... (The race dir update)

Hi to all.
How are things going here ?
Many things happened to me during the Last months, and I've been very, very busy. So very few time to give to SE IV, even if I'm still playing in two PBW games (when the server is not down http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )
But now, I want to come back to SE IV (and V ?) affairs a little.
I've started to update the racedir , which is, as usual, a huge, huge work. Today, all links to KYD site have been updated / changed. A good thing Tesco has hosted about every shipset in the list...
Are there any brilliant/interesting new shipsets that were born during the Last 10 months ?

I'd like to say that I'll upload all missing races to the new KDY soon, but that would be a lie.
But I promise I'll do it someday.
(the Chillian link seems to be still pointing to spaceports KDY, and page 2 seems to end prematurely)

Atrocities: thanks for the info. I'll have a look at your site in the coming days.
Andres : As your "big update" isn't scheduled, there will be a continuation of the missing races on Tesco site until it's done. I'll correct the chillian link too.
The second page seems to work fine for me. Maybe a temporary server failure ?
TerranC : The honeymoon was so-so. Had some trouble with "holiday pack" sellers in Dominican Republic (if you want details, I love to give them good publicity : http://Groups.google.fr/Groups?selm=YqK0a.239305%24ej1.98111%40news02.bloo r.is.net.cable.rogers.com )
,(never sign any contract when you're not in your country !) and gastric problems too (bring your immodium when you go in Punta Cana...) !

WB Trooper.
The KanesS is now completed and available for download. I think you have them listed already, but as an "under construction" set.
However I'm planning to move my website before the end of the month, so I don't know if you want to wait until that has happened before you change your link..?

Trooper, is there anything you can do about all those pop-ups?
trooper
March 12th, 2004, 09:28 AM
President Elec : Saw the popup issue recently.
There are two sources for the popups :
- One openened by the redirection system. You can avoid it by providing the real URL of the site : http://diesel2035.free.fr
- One opened by the stat tool on some pages : I'm cleaning those codes on the whole site, there won't be any after my next update.
Hope this helps.
Dogscoff : Sent me new urls and informations a soon as you move your site, ok ?

Get Mozilla Firefox, which blocks nasty popups by default. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

A little bit off topic, but Trooper can you explain to me how I can duplicate your signature? I want to link to your geekcode decoding site too. How the heck do I do this? If you look in the B5 thread you can see it took 7 edits before I gave up. Some help please?

Dogscoff : Sent me new urls and informations a soon as you move your site, ok ?
<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Just search/replace the string "sandman43.fsnet" for "dogscoff" in all your html files and that should fix the URLS for all shipsets on my site. =-)
for example, www.sandman43.fsnet.co.uk/valkyrie.htm (http://www.sandman43.fsnet.co.uk/valkyrie.htm) becomes www.dogscoff.co.uk/valkyrie.htm (http://www.dogscoff.co.uk/valkyrie.htm)
Oh, and did I mention that the KanesS are now complete?

DS : I'll correct your links in my next update. Maybe this evening, if my wife has not planned a more interesting project http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Timstone : Ahah. You have failed the intelligence test. Here is the solution :
Open the geek decoder page. Copy-paste your geek code in the text box. hit "decode". Then copy/paste the URL of the current page in your sig. It contains your geek code.
Note : The item "Bb++L+" is not understooden by the decoder... are you sure it's a standard syntax ?
Timstone
March 15th, 2004, 05:31 PM
Well, I changed the syntax error and entered it in the box on your site. Just as I did before.
Then I wnet to this message and entered the url. Like this:
My geekcode decoded by Trooper (http://diesel2035.free.fr/geek/geek.htm?BDecode=decode&geek=A-+Se%2B%2B%2B+GdY+%24+Fr+C%2B%2B%2B%2B+Cst%2B+Sf%2B %2B+Ai+Au+M%2B%2B+MpB5+S+Ss%2B%2B%2B+R%21+Pw+Fq%25 +Nd+Rp-+G%2B+Mm%2B%2B+Bb%2B%2B+L%2B+Tcp%2B)
Nothing to it, don't you think?
Well I tried to paste the above link into my profile, but that didn't work.
So I am curious how you did that.
Edit: I tried to paste it again (the sig).

Wow have I been busy, one more day to go. Trying to get the sister-in-law a new car but has she has no credit. Go figure thirty plus years old and she has lived this long by cash alone. Now she needs my help <gees> what a funny life I have. I married my wife and everyone in her family hates me as I put an end to their Christmas sponging. Now they need me as I am the only one (other than my wife who is gone) that has pristine credit. Like they say what comes around goes around. Anyway that is just me venting my frustration.
Trooper: Thanks for looking into the pop-ups, great job on the web site and I personally am happy to see it back up and running again. I thought this project had died a long time ago and could never figure out why. First chance I get I will add a link to it on my web site.

Great news Trooper. Thanks man for doing such a great job. Now go make new fish ship sets!
trooper
March 16th, 2004, 01:59 PM
- Added atrocities new races. Still some preview pictures to be added, and all old shipset links to test.
- Also corrected Dogscoff links.
- Removed some popup codes on the site, hope I haven't forget any.
AT : no new fish shipsets at the moment, but I've got something experimental almost ready to be released. You 're going to do something for the bad links I saw on your site ?
BTW : bmp are bads (3,5 Mo for a shipset preview page is a lot, IMHO)
Tim : Don't know how to help for your signature... maybe it's just too long, or there is a special character that makes the link not working. I would try to remove some items, and see if it works.
Elect Shang : THanks, the project was not dead, it was just asleep...

Atrocities, I've guessed why people don't go on your neostandard page ... It's quite impossible to find ! (just a link or two at the very bottom of your main page).
Other questions : where are the Vaadwaurs ?
There is still a page at
http://www.astmod.com/Vaadwaur.htm
but I saw no link to this page on your site.
About vulcans : the old set link on this page is bad :
http://galileo.spaceports.com/~william/downloads.htm
I still have a link here : http://galileo.spaceports.com/~william/vulcan.htm
, but there is no picture on it...
I'm about to end the update of your shipset links, let's see the rest of the list now...

I'm getting an error in the SpaceSharks race. It seems that there are two lines reading "Race Opt 1 Num Advanced Traits". The second needs to changed to the missing "Race Opt 2 Num Advanced Traits". Yes? No? What am I talking about?

Trek_Bab5 1.2, 1.91 ? Are you sure you're talking about sharks ? don't understand what files you are talking about. Anyway, I'll check the current Version.
Almost completed my update. Added a dozain of races in the list, maybe a fiew others need to be added from tesco's list.
As a conclusion, I would say, not many new shipsets during the Last months... maybe it's time to change to SEV !

I downloaded the Trek_Bab5+Mod_ver1.2.zip from PBW. It is adjusted for SEIVg 1.91. I downloaded Spacesharks 2.0 from your website http://sotas.clan.st/

Added some new shipsets to the list today
(recent works from Atrocities, Andres and Kevin Arisa).
I think the list is up to date now.
Pffff ! Exhausting...
Now I'll go on trying to found discontinued shipsets to host them.
