Just bought the game recently, and have always enjoyed 4x games "MOO, MOOII, Stars" come to mind.

However I do find that SEIV a bit more challenging in the sense that I can't seem to steal Shard Tech or any other special techs by intelligence. Is it a restriction coded in the game or is there a special way to go about it.

Another thing is that how come when you have conquered another empire, the empire's special skills are all lost even though it's race is still available albeit subjugated to my empire http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

You can't steal it, or get it by analyzing captured enemy ships. The only way to get a special racial tech like Organic, Crystal, etc is to pick it as your racial trait when you build your own race.

Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately it's illogical (in my Empire's case http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif) to use any technology of that sort as it's not technologically or genetically possible (self imposed restriction http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif)for the forseeable future anyway.

Aother thing is that the experience accumlated by your race what does it do?
