there's some more victory conditions. of the top of my head, peace for X number of years, X times the second place player's score, X score.
try the demo. it'll tell you more than my bad memory can.

You can set any number of victory conditions in the game setup window. After you click "New Game" in the intro screen, look down the list of game parameter buttons and find the one for victory conditions. Click that and that menu will come up. You can set it for Last being standing, point total, time expires, etc etc...

Thanks for the quick answers.
I already tried the demo, but didn't pay attention to the victory conditions as i never finished a game within 100 turns anyway.
It's good to know, cos i don't like to wipe out the entire galaxy.
Is there a good place to find the different mods, like Babylon 5, Star Wars, Star trek or even Galactica? i find it quiet difficult to search these on these Boards.

Welcome to the forum Eel http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
SEIV (against the AI) is not strong on diplomacy so there is no such thing as a “Cultural” victory or a “Galactic counsel” like some other 4X games have.
However, If you like deeeeep strategy games, and don’t mind a bit of micromanagement, SEIV is the way to go. The demo is a good way to start, but the AI’s in the demo suck compared to the best usermade AI’s (TDM modpack). And for even deeeeper strategy, try the challenge of playing humans at PBW (http://seiv.pbw.cc/graphic/index.jsp) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Edit: Oups, must learn not to take coffee brakes while typing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
For mods, just look in the sticky "Important SEIV Information & stuff" on the top of the page.

Just wondering, SE4 came out almost 4 years ago, and then Starfury...does someone have a guess on when SE5 will be released?

. <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That's too bad. I like doing that in Galactic civilizations. Just put a starbase near an enemy planet, and fill up it up to the point where the planet rebels and joins my side. Maybe in SEV?

I always play without victory conditions. Victory occurs in my games when he with the largest fleet conquers all. Gun Boat diplomacy works for me.

Aaron is working full blow on it right now. Before Starfury came out he was hoping to have Starfury out by christmas of 04, or was it 05? Either way it is going to be roughly 2 years from this point. Give or take a week. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

victory, for me, comes when i know how i can win and that i can win. after that, it gets boring. bad habit of mine.

I have the same habit. I don't use the victory conditions but if it gets to the point where I'm so far ahead of the other empires that I know I'm going to win, it gets boring and I start a new game. Or sometimes I just start a new game anyway just because I feel like using a different racial tech or whatever. Or if I don't play for a few days, I don't feel like continuing where I left off so I start a new game. I've only actually finiahed a few games ever. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

To be honest I have never used victory conditions. In fact I don't understand a need for them.

I always use the peace victory condition, but I'm always done before the game is over.
I like to start small, and fight the good fight for survival. Once I've overcome the really bad odds and am holding my own without too much trouble, its pretty much over.

I like to try a different victory condition with each new game, partly to see how long the games go.
My Last solo game was Last Man Standing, and I finished with 2.2M points, so my current solo game is set to end at 2M points.
