View Full Version : Asguard Shipset

I just ran a search for asguard on the board and didn't find much. I remember seeing a ship in the schematics section of Universal Shipyards. But then I never heard or saw anything of them again. Did Ryan ever finish it because I would be extremely interested in getting my hands on it.
And if it isn't finished I'd like to take this opportunity to bug him (if he reads this) to get it done. It was a beautiful ship he made and it would be a damn shame if he didn't make a whole set.

Are you sure it's not spelled "Asgard"?

The have only one class of ship, well two but the O'Neil class was just a slighly larger Version of there normal class of ship.
So no one has been interested ind doing a ship set for them.

I just looked up "asgard" instead of "asguard" with equal results; no information on the shipset.
Atrocities, as I recall the ship Ryan had made in the first place was not even a canon design. It was merely something he had cooked up. I wish I could find the picture of it. As I recall it looked asgard in design but like nothing seen in the show.

Actually I think its Asgaard. More of a Scandinavian spelling.

Think of THOR.
We have a Ga'Uld (sp) set floating around. I guess two or three other sets could be designed as well.

Don't know what this Asga(a|u)rd is all about, but I do know that for Nordic-themed shipsets you should head right on over to http://www.dogscoff.co.uk/viking.htm or http://www.dogscoff.co.uk/valkyrie.htm

Those are all "races" from the Stargate Universe

You know, I'm going to go find his e-mail address today and drop him a line about his shipset. Purhaps it never made it out of planning or something.

The Goauld shipset could be used for several diferent System Lords.
It would be perfect for an AI vs Player game.

Hey Baal
As a huge stargate nut the common spelling is asgard, or at least the one most fans use, which makes it official since no-one dares correct them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif Same with Goa'uld.
Although i've already asked this question before, and e-mailed ryan about it, with no reply i'm afraid, good luck to you though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
But for all you stargate fans i've heard their releasing a Stargate SG1 PC Game, no specifics however.
*pictures it now, first person shooting game. Left mouse button fire weapon, right mouse button alternate= O'Neil sarcastic comment, Teal'c eyebrow raise etc. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif *

You know they should have released a FP shooter for Stargate a long long time ago. I mean the game has such a rich history and unlimited gaming potential that game based upon it should have been made YEARS ago.

FPS? No thanks. How about a RPG? Now that would be a worthwhile game to make. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I'm sad to hear that he didn't follow through with his Asguard shipset. What he did do was very detailed and made good on the Asgard motiff. If he had made it I doubt I would have ever played with a different shipset. I may have to just settle for being the Goa'uld.

Yeah i agree, though i'm totally stumped on what they should do. I really wish they'd make a Space Empires-esque Game based on stargate, i think that would be incredible. But a FPS would be cool too. If they went the FPS way i hope they have the diplomatic way with other cultures and the consequences of taking technology back and such instead of a "Jaffa/shoot/kill/quote witty remark" style game. Although that would be cool too. Most game styles would probably work in the stargate universe because it is so rich and diverse.
Wait! I'm askign for all this from a Computer Game??? Never going to happen (unless MM make it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif )
But i would say such nice things about Stargate since i'm a fan of the show. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
Edit: I agree Baal, it was an incredible preview, although perhaps we should pester other Shipset designers to take it up http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif An updated Goa'uld set would be nice too.

Hmmm... Stargates connecting most worlds, some without stargates... move populations and troops through, making for a more troop-centered game. Make starships harder to make, so there is less of them and space battles are more intense. Ancient technology has to be researched after finding it. Have to make troop transports to attack those worlds without stargates. Warp points would be generated by ships... larger ships would be able to warp farther than small ships. Warp points would then dissapear after being used. Lots and lots of neutral AI, ready to become subjugated http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

So does anyone have that picture of the Asgard ship attacking the borg ship (I think)? It would be a good starting point for someone that wanted to pick up the set for contruction.

Oh god, we have the beginnings of a Stargate Mod!
Well we really don't need to worry about Warp points, i'm sure Andres Lescano had a hyperspace feature on his star wars mod, that would work. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif But i've always wanted a stargate mod.
Also, My wish for SEV would be some planets have civillisations on them like in stargate, some advanced and some not that could give benefits or disadvantages.
E.G. Advanced Culture increases construction time on the planet.
Primitive Culture keeps attacking your people and destroying facilities.
As for that picture i wish i did Baal, but i don't http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
