Well it is offical, OPEC will be cutting production by at least a million barrels a day starting this week. Expect the prices to go through the roof for a gallon of gas by the end of the week.
Some forcast $2.25 or more for regular UL and well over $2.50 a gallon for Super by the beginning of summer months. (June)

This is going to hurt our economic recovery and further deepen the depths of despair for those who have already lost everything do to this economy.
This does not boad well for our pocket books.

Oh, stop your crying and be thankful that the US still has one of the lowest average gas prices in the world.
Or take the bus...I hear Portland has a good mass transit system.

OPEC deals in dollars and because the dollar is so weak and interest rates are too low they need to raise prices to make up for their shortfalls - it's called inflation.
It's a really dangerous situation because these nations also loan us money to fund our deficit spending so you won't see any real pressure exerted just like you won't see any thing done about outsourcing. That's part of the reason why deficits are so bad.

You know, Atrocities, I looked at this thread and went, "I don't see any link to an article." Then I looked at the date stamp and went, "oh, April Fool's Day." So I posted to the effect that I don't believe it. But then I thought it would be inconsiderate to call an April Fool's bluff without letting some fools take the bait.
I could be wrong though.

And for the record, the Mass Transit in Portland, (Max and the busses) are good, but I no longer live there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif .

Rats. It's a shame this isn't just an April Fool's joke that went off 50 minutes too early. I hate driving with gas as it is. Looks like I'll be purchasing a more gas effective vehicle soon.

Well, I counted up OPEC's production per day for 2000 and came up with 27,700,000 barrels, so that's about right for 4%, so...

Hey they are in the business to make money, and like it was posted before, profit is down.
This is a loose win situation for a lot of companies here in the US. They may have to pay more for transpertation costs, but they will get a tax break and hopefully funding to develop economical / environmentally friendly fuels.
For people like me, who have little extra $ at the end of the month, this is just going to suck.
"Due to fiscle cut backs, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off."
Today is a very sad day for me. Not to do with gas prices or anything, it is simply a reminder in a long list of reminders of how horribly my life has gone wrong.
Time to play a game..... I am thinking Tribes or SimCity 4. Well it'll have to be simcity because on 26.6 dial up Tribes won't run. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif God I am so depressed.
