Well I just got my Febuary issue of Computer Gaming world in the mail today and what was in there but a review of SEIV. It is a very positive review 4 out of 5 stars. The only hits they gave it were the manual and they called the graphics "functional" and said it had a lack of special effects. Otherwise it was a very glowing review.

A couple of quotes:

A space micromanagement extravanganza with all the trimmings.

SEIV has all the hallmarks of a game designed by someone who knows exactly what the hardcore audience wants.

Congratulations Shrapnel and Malfador Machinations I hope you ordered enough copies to meet the demand after people read the review.

I wonder how many people bought the game because of this review.

IIRC I didn't know there was a Space Empires 3 and 4 till I picked this issue up, or maybe it was a prior issue with a 1 parragraph preview... Untill then I had played 1000s of hours on SE2 Shareware edition...

Feburary 2005? Geez the mag needs to get in better sync with reality. Normally, in my neck of the woods the mag is a month ahead, so right now the January issue is on sale, but Feburary? geez, talk about out of sync, by the time Feburary rolls around se5 will be in beta and they are reviewing se4?

It's not a bad thing, but Geez, Feburary 2005 mag review of se4? wow, If people are smart they will say "This must be a really really great game to get a good review 5 years after it's release." And run out and buy the game. .. just think the people thar order their first copy of se4 won't have long to wait for se5. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Anyway, you did say Feburary right? and 2005 to boot?

I'm gobsmacked, what can I say, Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

But, AT, you did it wrong. You should have said 'Arise, my thread, ARISE, and wreak havok on an unsuspecting forum!'

Just look at the date on some of today's Posts. 12/03 is December 3rd, so 01/03 is January 3rd.

I'm kind of bummed that none of the reviews ever mentioned the PBW as a feature for SE4. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Crushed in such a way so that you'll really have no say in the matter and a corporate logo will be tattooed across your forehead while you sip overpriced cappuccino while reading USA Today.

Winnetka, CA. Huh...
