View Full Version : "mod launcher" for Star Trek Mod

Greetings!
I am VERY new to SE4 so I apologize in advance for this:
I have successfully downloaded the STAR TREK mod (Version1.7.2...for whatever reason I have downloaded the new 1.9.7 Version from astmod.com but it has error Messages every time I tried to install, but I digress) and in the installation instructions it states that all you need to do, once the mod is installed, is use the "mod launcher program to start the mod."
I have looked everywhere for this within SE4 with no success, so I am curious if this is yet another program/mod I need to obtain, a badly-worded term for a file that's "there" but simply listed under a different term, or something else entirely?
I am just very interested in trying the mod on for size and so far I have had zero luck on this step.

If you have SEIV Gold, check the extras folder on the CD. I'm pretty sure it's there. I'll have a look around sites to find a download if it isn't.

Indeed, if it isn't on the CD it can be found in this thread. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

BEWARE--there are 2 star trek mods--one is called Atrocities Star trek mod ( or AST) -- the other is just Star trek mod--and they are both made by the same author (Atrocities) make sure you are running the one you want to play- the AST mod is more like SE-IV stock Version and the star trek mod is a full conVersion for the die-hard trekkies. Thwe ASt mod is up to verion 1.9.7 and the star trek mod is up to Version 1.7.2 --both can be played via mod launcher as well as many other mods.

and if you learn to edit the path.txt, which takes five seconds, you can do without the mod launcher, which is for lazy people. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The mod launcher is a feature that should have been built into the game in the first place. SF has it, DO has it, SE5 will have it. The mod launcher is not just for lazy people, it is for people that don't want to edit path.txt 12 times every session playing PBW turns using different mods. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

The mod launcher was one of those utility programs that became as important to SEIV as this forum.
