probably just a glitch, but i have seen a planet which had the bullet (under the blabla planet description lines!) with the usual ancient artefact text, but no identifier (ruin symbol). also it does not appear under special in the planets window. have not yet ice colony ability to check the artefacts...

Ussually it won't have anything there. I have seen it in the Stra Trek Mods. I think it is because they put that down as a description for that type of planet, but it didn't randomly put ruins there.

It is because the planet has the ruins ability, but 0 tech levels. When adding dummy ruins, it is necessary to create a dummy tech area that will be associated with the type of ancient unique tech area number that the ruins will give out. They work just like regular ruins now, except that you don't get anything that has any use at all from them, as the tech area allows nothing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

I assume this is to reduce the number of "found techs", because of a fixed count of ruins (distribution) ? Proportions is the mod, but I have overwritten the quadrants by one of your FQMs (IIRC).
