Hi
I really feel like having a game! basically, I installed it when it first came out, played it for ages, and at around turn 150ish, it used to come up with some sort of error. I then patched it to the latest Version available, and it worked 100% fine.
I wanted to have a game a couple of months back, I installed the latest patch, and at around turn 150 again, it came up with a error saying "out of memory"
I then gave up the game to get on with other things. But I love games set in space! I just had a craving to play it again, but I got the error again http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I was wondering in the Last few months has anyone else reported this and what has been done?
I tried moo3, but I hate it! cant understand it...
anyway I want to play this game!
Thanks
Wilhil

If you have Win2k or XP, Ctrl+Alt+Del to the task manager, and see what processes are taking up what memory. You might want to kill some of the bigger memory hogs (Acrobat comes to mind, as it sticks around after I "close" it).
Consider getting AdAware, and running it regularly. A bunch of spy programs will take up a lot of your resources.
Increase your virtual memory, or even better, get a new stick of memory.
Hope that helps.

Its nothing like that at all. My computer is running fine, I paly tons of games, do work, and more. I run norton antivirus corperate edition - no viruses. I run ad aware auto every night, and I dont have any memory leaks, faulty ram, or any applications running. My pc has 2GB's of ram, and yet this out of ram error is annoying. I do sometimes get little errors with games, but every game usually has a few bugs, wich then i download patch and it works fine. It is just this latest patch seems to really mess up my game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
oh well! guess no SE for me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I was having a problem with SE4 a while back and it was because I had conflicting mods stacked on each other.

I run xp pro.
and also I do run a mod, but I had the problems with out as well.
the first incident before I knew about mods where it said out of range, was resolved by a patch,
the game then worked fine, and i played the star trek mod http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
then i forgot about the game, got a new pc, reinstalled it, and patched to the latest Version, played normally and got this error. I then tried installing star trek mod, but i still got the same error http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Are you playing all those turns in a row? Try saving and rebooting if you haven't already, see what happens.

I have tried everything... playing the game, saving after turns, then when i get the error, i close se, restart, reopen to the Last turn, but no use, i just get the error at the end of the next turn http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Yes, upgrading from XP might be your best bet...

really quickly as i never finished this off... no idea if i am the only one who got problems, but anyway I choose compatibility mode on the shortcut, and changed it to windows 2000. The game now works fine.
