View Full Version : How to get AI EMpire to Surrender !?

Greetings !
I am playing this TDM-ModPack game and I've almost wiped all of an AI's Race except for one tiny planet with 19M population left, and my Fleet in Orbit.
Since that race has ICE colonization, I'd like it to SURRENDER instead of just wiping them out and missing the opportunity to get that technology. But alas, when I ask it to surrender, it always tells me it's too close to victory to surrender.. yeah right...
Any suggestions HOW I could sway those poor souls into surrendering !? I am not at war with them, but their mood is "murderous".
THANKS !!

Greetings to you RiTz21:
What TDM race are you referring to?
Some AI Players will NOT surrender to (friends) and some AI Players WILL fight to the death no matter what http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
Many of us find this to be realistic, what would you say?

The default value is 10X score. I *think* that some (most?) TDM races still use this.

Another option: Back off a few sectors or even out of the system entirely blocking warppoint(s), build some Boarding Ships, and wait 'till he builds more colonizers and transports. Then capture colony tech and alien slaves for your appropriate domed worlds. THEN glass 'em...
And yes, some AI's will NEVER surrender.

Leave a few planets for him to colonize and yes have a boarding ship able to go after that ice colonizer caputre it - put it back to youre shipyard - wipe him out - anayise the ice colony ship he build and you will get the tech and can cream him at the same time.

offer it a treaty of subjugation and give it the colony tech it doesnt have (rock or gas) 875 times, then ask in return the one planet it has left.

Just taking their Last planet will not give you Ice colony tech. It will give you his breathers, whether that is Methane or whatever. You need to do as others have said is a capture a colony ship with the Ice technology component on it. You can get this by either boarding his ship or trading somehow with him.

The only way I have ever gotten any AI to surrender is to glass a few homeworlds and blockcade the rest

actually in a stock game i blockaded a homeworld for 4 turns offered term they refused so i reduced pop then tropop captured at 1500m pop

ANother way is to have a big invasion fleet (go after his home system) if he has say 6 planets (small) and the main one invade the six small ones in one turn - demand the surrender - he usually surrenders.
Or another sneaky way is to say he has 4 systems - intel where his spaceports are - attack those planets - that reduces his capacity to generate any resources or research or anything - his fleet becomes less maintainable and he should surrender.
Just make sure you rebuild them as soon as possible or have the racial ability where you dont need spaceports.

It's already been said that some TDM Modpack Ai's never surrender. In at least some of those cases, I think their speech files have been edited to not contain a surrender dialog, you you might want to check that.
At any rate, you have to be far ahead of them to get a surrender, so here's a plan. Bloackade their Last remaining planet. If you accidentally glass it, demand their surrender, they may do it as their Last turn goes. Also if the planet riots, then rebels, you get a new AI generated, they'll be more amiable, cause they'll use an SE4 default AI.
Here's something else, early in the game, generally, it's a waste of research points to research colonization yourself. But if you've beaten an AI, you've invaded or colonized a lot of prime planets, maybe you should research the other colonization types yourself.
Consider your other AI opponents, if you gave them a bonus, they may already have all colonization tech. It's unlikely they stole it (they can get it via surrender too, not any other way). And they're flying around, snapping up ruins planets and huge breathables ...

I never ask for their surrender out of fear that they might.
