Is there any way in SEIV gold to do player controlled battles in a turn based multiplay on different comptuers?

The TCP/IP options only show up in Simul games also for me, is this correct?

Tactical combat is only available in SP and hotseat games. You could save the game at the end of your turn and send it along to your opponents, if you trust them not to cheat.

There is no way to get tactical combat using TCP/IP or PBEM modes.

Tactical Combat over IRC can be quite fun, especially if you get multiple people involved for each side.

Hey SJ, you mean you actually CAN play Tactical Combat over the net? How do you do that?

Not quite. Only one person has SE4 loaded. Everyone sends him their orders via IM. Only one person is actually physically playing the game.

With about 15 active people it takes about 2 hours to process, and we do a turn a week.

The IRC combats generally don't take long, but then, the PBW battles are usually fairly lopsided...
Those officers don't want to be killed by a random APB blowing out lifesupport, so they tend to bring 6 LCs and a couple carriers to take out one or two Drushocka cruisers.

For a good combat with evenly matched sides, of 4-5 ships, half an hour should be plenty.
