My modded AI with my new mod is not designing colony ships. Why? Why? Why! WHY!!

There are designs in the design file, but the AI isn't doing anything with them. What's the secret? What's the trick? I've compared them to the default files, and I can't see the problem. None of those evil double spaces either. Grrr!

Any AI modders know what I'm doing wrong?

What is the nature of your colony modules?

Look for double spaces in your files. Sometimes these are the cause.

Also what is the colony component set up as? The Ai is kinda paticular about this as well.

Try checking the AI settings files to see if the size of your colony ships is to big for the “Max Ship Size Tonnage From Start”entries. Also I had that problem with colony ships to, so I decided to do this:

AI Design Creation File:
Name := Colony (Rock)
Design Type := Colony (Rock)
Vehicle Type := Ship
Default Strategy := Don't Get Hurt
Size Minimum Tonnage := 250
Size Maximum Tonnage := 250
Num Must Have At Least 1 Ability := 1
Must Have Ability 1 := Colonize Planet - Rock
Majority Comp Spaces Per One := 10000
Majority Comp Ability := Weapon
Secondary Comp Spaces Per One := 10000
Secondary Comp Ability := Weapon

Vehicle Size File:
Colony Ship
Requirement Pct Colony Mods := 0

There are no double spaces in the file.
The tonnage requirement for colony ship designs are fine.
The Colony ship hulls range from 500kt - 1800kt.
I set the % colony component requirement to 30%.
The colony components range are 200kt and 400kt - 164kt.
The mod uses a hybrid QNP/mQNP scheme.

I haven't tweaked the hybrid propulsion scheme yet, so I expect the AI to design less than effective ships. They're designing attack ships and stuff, but they're not designing colony ships.

If I design them by hand, the AI will build them and use them. The problem must be in the AI_DesignCreation file.

Do the colony components themselves require the use of mounts? I have found this to cause issues...

No, they don't use mounts.

Check your AI_Settings.txt for this lines:
Max Ship Size Tonnage From Start 1 Amount := xxx
Max Ship Size Tonnage From Start 1 Num Turns := xx

This can cause problems also. Just set them to 0 and try to playtest it again.
