Steampunk in Space?

Just thought I'd throw this idea out there... what if there were a mod with "steampunk" or "Jules Verne" tech - you know, 19th century technology extrapolated into science fiction? I really don't know much about this genre, but wouldn't it be fun to build "cosmic steamships" with their "contra-terrene carbines" (whatever a carbine is http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif ) and "voltaic induction drives"? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

This could even be a fourth paradigm for the Adamant mod... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

If I *were* to make a mod, it would probably be a MOO2 conVersion, which I've actually started several times, but never gotten past the first few components http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
