i wonder if you have ever read the following books

The Ring of Charon

The shattered sphere

both by Roger MacBride Allen

i dont ask about the ringworld books by larry niven as any scifi reader almost has to have read them

this gives me ideas regarding facilities / ships

another book along those line is The Genesis Machine (goes looking in library...) by james p hogan

if you are referring to ring and sphereworlds, they arent really something unique. Many writers have picked up the idea.

I read loads of sci-fi but still haven#t got round to Niven yet.

Currently about 6 books into the Honor harrington series. Damnably addictive, those books...

The Bahzell series is also good. Fantasy, not sci-fi.
