Sounds interesting...
Prepares to start a debate thread
I haven't seen that much of the original BSG (I'm only 17 guys http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) Just the odd episode but i saw the other mini-series (the remake, 2002/2003???) of it thats been showing around on Sattelite television and i have to say it wasn't half bad...
And i just looked at the site and it looks like a continuation from the film/mini-series/whatever (We'll call it a film because it was about 3 hours long) so i personally think this won't be that bad...
I wait for the people who saw the original and then saw the remake and are about to hijack the topic completely http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

17 myself and have not see much of the orignal show. So us youthful ones might like it more because we wont notice the changes from the first series. I still have a problem with a woman Starbuck though.

Are they going to bring back that group of super kids and their cool scout leaders with the flying bikes? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

i find this new Version the movie to be much better and yet still maintaining a nice link back to the original sseries
also the updating of the tech of the cylons is great though i belive ty need a little more influence from a truly sneaky human wih an understnding of what can be done with ttechnology

I was a fan of the original BSG series and I watched the remake and I've very impressed with Ron Moore's work with it.

Just noticed this for all You UK BSG Fans.
Today on Channel 5 a show called Galactica 1980 is on at 3:20pm. The description goes as follows.
"Made-for-tv where a bunch of spacefaring earthlings finally find the planet they've been searching for decades."

That was the worse spin-off of any show ever created by man. The only original cast member was Lorne Greene, and he must have been on contract, because I don't think he ever looked too happy. Stick to the original, or for you younger generation, the new series.
Speaking of the new series, I liked it. Even though I had to get used to a female Starbuck, I thought it was a pretty good re-telling of the original saga. I noticed the cast was more PC; almost of the original male roles were recast as females. They still kept Apollo as Adama's son, but that was about it. Starbuck and Boomer were recast as females. No mention of an Adama daughter, either. I even liked Baltar, who was more of an accidental traitor than one who sold out the human race. Heck, if the Cylon's all looked like that girl, I'd turn traitor too. I knew a new series was coming out, I just didnt' know when. Can't wait to see it.

IIRC, in the new series, isn't Boomer a Cylon?

What we saw at the very end was a cylon that looked like Boomer. It could have been a dopelganger that they plan on inserting into the Galactica crew at some point. It was quite a jaw-dropping cliff-hanger though.

That's great to hear that they've signed up to do a show! As a fan of the original BG, I must say that I very much enjoy the new one. I think the differences between the two are part of the reason they didn't say it was a remake as much as a 're-envisioning'.
And yah, Six of Twelve, Seven of Nine, it's aaaaaall good. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Either that or I'm just starved for Sci-fi epics. Sci-Fi Channel movie of the week aside. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Actually, Boomer being a cylon is implied from the prior comment in the film that some have already been planted, don't even know they are cylons, and they are simply awaiting a signal to turn them on.

Has anyone heard of when the mini-series will be released on DVD? I messed up when trying to record it on my vcr, so I don't have a chance to watch it again. Hopefully before 2005.

I'm sure SciFi channel will air the miniseries again (and again and again) shortly before the series premier, in the hopes of building up enthusiasm...
