Yeah, I saw a movie poster but no trailer yet. How do you remake a classic like this? This was George Lucas's first movie and it is timeless and well done considering the budget he was on. I wish studios would save their shreholders money and not remake movies that were done good in the first place. What sort of product tie in could they be dreaming up now?

I thought they were releasing the original with touch-ups (ala the Blade Runner re-release several years ago), not re-making it?

I agree with AT, it's a cash-cow thing. Look at Steve Jackson, he's now doing a remake of King Kong. I thought the original was fine, the second Version kind of lame, and now PJ is going to try his hand at a third Version? I know he made alot of people really rich (including himself) but give me a break, there are lots of more interesting things he could have done.
Just my humble opinion.

That'd be Peter Jackson - not Steve Jackson. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
You must not be from this planet.

Notice how David used "PJ" later in his post though. Perhaps Steve is Peters middle name? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Can you imagine a movie basied on the OGRE(T) / GEV univers? That would be cool.
Steve Jackson expects people to provide a link ack to his site when using "OGRE"

So there it is.

Peter? you mean "The Rock"? LOL I guess I had the D&D thread on my mind, and was thinking of the old Steve Jackson 'Pathway' type quest books.
Next time I'll try to remember to go generic,.. "Mr. Jackson" (but this 'generic' approach might confuse the issue even more,.. Michael's making a movie?? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif )
But in spite of the name goof, I'm not looking forward to another King Kong remake. So I'll just ignore it when it comes out.
To each his/her own.

Isn't Peter Jackson the dude who made the Lord of the Rings trillogy?
IF so, he should branch out and take on the Dirk Pitt novels by Clive Custler. Or better yet, Re-do Buck Rogers.

So we got to get Peter Jackson to do a movie based on a Steve Jackson game? G.E.V. or Car Wars?
I remember Michael Jackson wanted to do a movie where his soul was trapped inside a magical car that would fight crime and do cool things. And it would be driven by a little boy...OF COURSE!
Don't drink Jesus Juice and drive McCauly!
Thread jacking by own....tee hee hee.

But I think Clive Custler would have to seriously re-write Raise The Titanic, though.
As far as Peter Jackson, I would love to see this new King Kong movie. Can you imagine what Ray Harryhausen could have done with today's CGI technology? Bring on the T-rex's and pteradyctals, something which was sorely missed in the remake. If the LOTR trilogy is any indication, then this movie will be terrific.
Also, I've heard or read somewhere that for his next project, he's going to do The Hobbit. Since LOTR was so successful, and a lot of fans, myself included, would have wanted to see the whole book on film, rather than a 5 minute briefing that didn't even include the dwarves or the dragon, he's going to do it. Don't know when this will come out, but if this is true, I can't wait.

I want to see someone do the Mutineer's Moon series, by David Weber.
Why? Starships the size of planets.

Just pre-ordered THX-1138. I've seen the edited Version of it on regular tv. Can't wait to see the whole un-edited Version. But I'll have to wait until September. I think it comes out the week before the original Star Wars trilogy comes out. Definitely can't wait for that. I wonder if a new Version of American Graffiti will come out soon. Haven't bought it yet, and don't know if I should wait or go ahead and get it the next time I see it in a store.
