So far all i've seen is that Marvin, as opposed to the tv series where he is a 6 foot tall robot, is a little robot (much like an aibo) played by the same guy who did wicket the Ewok.

For the moment, you seem to be able to get it here (http://hitchhikermovie.free.fr/pages/trailerdownload.html). It lacks footage from the actual movie. Or, at least, it lacks footage of people or people-like things from the movie and that dissappoints me somewhat.

I may be really pessimistic and jumping the gun, but I don't think this is something they should or can really change anything of without messing things up. They should get the guys who did the comic Version of it to do the movie. That had the exact same feel, as far as I can tell and while they cut stuff, the stuff they left was word for word, as nearly as I can tell.

Disclaimer: when i call him a midget I am in no way attempting to be derogatory of Mr Warwick, I just can't think of a better way to describe the new Marvins (the robot, not the actor's) size.

In the Marvin picture, there's a hand holding a huge white sphere above the actor dressed in the Marvin costume. Is that big white globe Marvin's head? It seems disproportionately too large. And where are his eyes, mouth, etc?

I wonder what Zaphod is going to look like. I can't imagine how they could possibly make a two-headed guy look good.

You know, I think it would be a lot funnier if Marvin delivers his "Here I am, brain the size of a large planet, and I'm delegated to opening doors" lines when he has a tiny "head", or even a relatively normal sized head. But the big head just makes it look insanely stupid, and that's not DNA's style of humor. I don't like it.

As I said earlier he looks like that little black and white robot they make in Japan that walks down stairs. Perhaps they are trying to make him look like a modern robot, but some executive thought "wouldn't it be funny if he had a big head, you know because he's so small........and it'd be even funnier if he had a beergut"

Edit: just tried looking for more pictures of the midget stormtrooper and found this site. The image is a step up from the tv Version (which was good enough) and way better than the movie one.

The "new" Marvin doesn't bother me. I loved the old Marvin from the TV series but I'm prepared to have faith in whoever made the decision to design Marvin like this. After all, someone had the sheer brilliance to cast Martin Freedman as Arthur Dent. And that's an encouraging thought, surely.

The thing that amazes me most is that we've been discussing a book-to-movie conVersion for two whole pages now and no one has mentioned Starship Troopers. I mean that's how these threads normally go isn't it?
