Glest is essentially a RTS engine, where you can modify the races, terrain, etc at will via XML settings and any 3d editor that accepts 3dsmax plugins (it has a custom format plugin). It looks interesting an dI think it has potential. Pity, I don't have 3DSMAX, and don't know of another editor compatible with the plugins.

Can you provide some pro and con comparisons against TWE (the War Engine) which is available here at shrpanelgames? I found TWE interesting because it came with modules for an armytank game, and a paintball warriors game, and a DnD style game, and a mechwarriors game, and some others I cant remember.

Well, they are for different types of games...

Glest: Real-time, 3D.
TWE: Turn based, 2D.
