Did't want to drag that one Off-Topic.

When you made the Facilities for Se IV you used 3D-Modeling, no?

Would you be interested in contributing some small amount of work (2D, 3D, #2 pencil, whatever) to a mod of SE IV or to the ImageMod collection of universal images?

Current standards of 3D-modeling being whatever, work on par with, or even of somewhat lower quality than the original Facility images would be a great boon to any one modder or to the community as a whole through the ImageMod.

Heya,

Yes, when I did the original set it was all Bryce.

I wouldn't mind contributing a couple of pieces. But at the same time I don't want to commit to something that I wouldn't be able to follow through on (I just hate that...).

Anything I would do for this would most likely be ultimately a 2d render, but from your post that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Regardless, what, exactly did you have in mind? I mean, are you looking for more facilities, planets, ship sets, races...?

Let me know and I'll see what I can do. Obviously I'd have to squeeze this stuff inbetween other projects.

Cheers,
~Shane

So, now we have two Space Empires graphic artists on the forum.

Um, point? What point? Where?

Well sir, there are a few of us that are working on Fantasy-related mods so Facilities, or even Components, along those lines would help us out. They could be contributed to the ImageMod, and thereby made availabel to evreyone.

If you could make images of castles, wizard's towers, ginantic summoning circles, and various other buildings that would look appropriate for a fantasy setting that would be great, especially if they didn't look out-of-place when seen next to the Facilities you designed for the stock game, if possible.

You haven't mentioned any work on the Components, but if you feel willing to help out in this aspect we Fantasy-modder could use a number of different cannons, pictures to represent bizaar spell components, elementals, sommoning circles, undead ship components, or anything else that occurs to you.

Again, if you feel willing to contribute anything, it would be appreciated.

it seems you arent reffering (sp?) to the fantasy empires mod. I find spoon had a very good idea with scanning MTG cards or screenshoting. I was just hoping he would make a big black border around each card so it would look nicer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

There would also be a good call for 3/4 overhead view images of towns, forests, rivers, grass, etc.

To be used to turn system maps into countryside, planets into cities and storms into forests/rivers/etc.

My own mod (and the Adamant) are more 'fantansy in space', so transforming the system maps and whatnot has not been a concern of mine.

I preferred the black-bordered cards as well. If my decks arestill around here, they had only Alpha nad Beta cards for the basic lands.

Okay, I've got to think on some of this stuff and see if I can come up with anything. I know it's been posted before but I can't find it easily right now; but post the link to your mod so I can see what you are doing.

I'm fairly busy currently with more projects coming on, so I'll see what I can do

Cheers,

I don't think Loser has posted a Version of his mod yet. Sounds like it will have some similar aspects to my Adamant Mod (http://adamant.spaceempires.net/), so you could take a look at that in the mean time. The site is a little outdated. If you just want to look at the data files, you only need to download the Data Version. If you want to view stuff in-game, you will need the Full Version, as well as the Image Mod (http://imagemod.spaceempires.net/).

I was thinking of something more general, that could be used by a number of different modders. Just some pics that are more suited to the fantasy setting.

Adamant has a lot of general magic facilities that could be used by a variety of mods. It has nearly everything you listed explicitly earlier. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

How about components? And how do they look next to the stock images?

There is very little in the way of magic component images. I have primarily either left them in the form of the physical equivalent component (where applicable) or used some of the B5 weapons that look like poles. There are some wooden, iron, mithral, etc. type armor components that are the same shape as the stock Armor picture, so they look fine alongside stock images. There are some runestones, which don't look half bad next to stock images. Not many other magic-oriented components in the Image Mod.
