Is every thing o.k.?? Will the game be shipped today?

I know, i know ... everybody is still thinking about this, especially if you have preordered, like me.

Any answer would be very kind!

"Achtung, machen Sie schnell!" means - "attention, hurry up!"

I´m always impressed, that a lot of people in internet forums know always a little bit of the german language. German is very hard to learn. I´m glad to be a native german - to learn german as an adult/ non native german must be terrible. I also know some american people living in my country, who speak german very well - amazing, still amazing.

O.k. - grrrrr, i´m still waiting for the SE4 game to arrive here in Stuttgart/Germany. I know that i won´t get it in my hands till next week - could anybody of you lucky american guys post some information here about your first impressions of the full Version?? It would be very kind.

Thanks a lot.

As an American who understood the German in your message even before I got down to your translation, I'm amazed that you say (in flawless English) that German is hard to learn. German grammar and pronunciation is complicated, but works according to rules with relatively few exceptions, while English grammar and pronunciation is all over the map. Learning any language as an adult is hard, but as I understand it, the international consensus is that English is one of the worst. So *I'm* glad I learned my English on my mother's knee and didn't have to pick it up later. Almost everyone on the internet speaks pretty good English, a fact that most native English speakers don't properly appreciate.

Languages are generally rated in catagories for difficulty. English and Mandrin Chinese are Catagory 5 (the highest.) Russian is Cat4, German is a 3+(usually rated as a 4 now.) English, Russian and German are the Languages I know. IMHO, English has the largest deviation in rules and structure, Russian has the most difficult grammatical conventions and German has the hardest vocabulary (try the official word for speed limit in German...) I don't consider English the hardest, though. Because of the incredably large acceptable rules, you can say nearly anything and be understood http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

People say Gaelic is hard, and I admit the pronunciation is tricky for people who haven't grown up around the sounds, but compared to English and its wonky rules, Gaelic's a breeze!

Oh, and I'm getting my copy of SEIV on FRIDAY!!!! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOO!!! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon10.gif

speed limit is

Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung or sometimes even
Höchstgeschwindikeitsbegrenzug.

Because the word is so long, we don´t have
any Gesch.. erh speed limits!

(Guys, this is not true. Only 40% of our
Autobahnen are left without speed limits).

Hahah, I know what I said with the schnell thing. I know a little german, little bit of russian (how to curse that is), and I know a good deal of french.
IMO, Europeans must know at least 3 Languages! An exchange student from France knows english, french (DUH!) and german!
Us americans only know english (and that is a stretch! Our grammar is terrible!)

Most people don’t realize how close some dialects of English are to German. For example, the Brooklyn dialect produces new words the exact same way the Germans do … lots of tiny little words all strung together to make one big new one. Hui, nice discussion here!

Ehrm...., yes i am a Schwabe. But i don´t live, talk and behave like a schwabe. So, even if some people here Kurpfälzer (giggle, giggle) it would be no problem for me. (hehehehehehe).

It was said, that SE4 is worth every DM/EU/$, please give me more information.

Another question - i did a mistake by ordering the game, by giving a wrong e-mail-adress, i mailed Shrapnelgames, they fixed my mistake. In the answer by sg was a sentence, that i will be informed when my credit-card is charged. I didn´t get such a message yet. Did you get such an e-mail???? Perhaps i got something wrong, but i´m in panic now, that i would get this game delayed.

It would be very kind, if somebody could tell me, how his case by ordering and getting mails was! (huh, my english is really bad today, but i hope that you folks know what i mean).

Thanks for your answers.

Hallo Ferendra und Jochen,

Hallo Jochen,

Was is mit shrapnell ? Hast Du die schon gefragt ?

Hey Ferendra,

at this moment i have a rope around my neck, standing on a chair, looking sadly on my empty hand (where the copy of SE4 should be today), and now .........

Jochen

Hi,

getting mad...., getting mad.... .

Thank you for informing me about your equal faith. So, it is not only me.

I wrote Shrapnel in my ordering mail, how they should "design" the adress - and, nothing was done. Still the german post is not able to "scan" an not average adress-field. Well, only thing we can do is to stay in contact and wait.

Thanks again.

To all the german freaks here!

the telefonnumbers for questions about your package:

national Post 0180 23333
international Post 0130 804141

So ne Sch****!!!!!!

Hmm, did I forgot anybody? I think there have been more people interested, but I expect we'll hear from them soon... http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

Perhaps we should start a new thread with this as well... hmm, guess I'll just start one labelled 'International PBEM Game' or so.

To be continued there...

Cheers,

Dime

Greg: Sorry, of course you are in! The current list is in the other thread.

Hmm, what do you mean by 'multi-language'? I can only understand German and English, and some bits of Latin. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

Oh, and I noted I forgot to put SirDarwin in the list... sorry!

Cheers,
