View Full Version : No AI Minesweepers???????!!!!!
Jochen Schmidt

Hi all,
still waiting for SE4, but read in some Posts here, that the AI doesnīt build minesweepers.
Well, i know that SE4 is still not "finished" and that there is still a lot of work to do - but, will this be fixed. I mean, will the AI in the future be smart enough to build minesweepers??
I think, if it doesnīt build minesweepers, it is really no challenge to play this game (of course it is a challenge, but you know...). Mine your warppoints and thatīs it.
Any answers would be kind.
Greetings from Germany
Jochen
P.S. To the lucky ones, who own the full Version yet, "did you see large AI-Fleets?".

Great thing about this game is that we ask, and they release the patch ASAP.
Most game companies put out a game that will be playable for about a week, and if your lucky will fix any huge bugs in a few months.
I'm sure it'll be fixed.

Yeah,
the communication between the fans MM/SG is really cool. The same thing i encountered was/is in the Combat Mission forum at Big Time Software. Itīs the only possibility for "small" companies to survive on the market. And i think, this is good - very good.
Ehm, did you see big AI fleets, yet?
Greetings and many thanks from Germany

Seems strange to me to sice we have a free trade agreement, and an open boarder.

And all that's if they'll ship it at all, had a hell of a time trying to spend 500$ US on a new CPU, mobo.
Can't buy it here because that just adds an extra middle man to jackup the price.

I looked through the AI build files and it did not seem to be much/any challenge to add mine sweepers to the standard build order. I have only been playing the released game for a few hours and havn't seen any large fleets yet, but in the demo I saw fleets as large as 15-20 ships

Thatīs a surprise to me... I never saw in the demo such a big fleet. Hmmmmm.
Doing something wrong?.....
Well, but funny, if such fleets still exist even in the demo. So, in the full Version i will see and fight them.
Thanks a lot!

Ahhh, Danny,
the best thing for us both would be to live in the USA. Wouldnīt it??
Giggle, giggle, just made a joke.
I feel with you. It is unsatisfactory at all.
Keep your head high - iīm sure, your game will arrive in time.
Thanks a lot.

My first game saw AI fleets of 15-20, incl. Dreadnaughts, by year 14. I upped the max systems to 255 and the max ships to 300 using the in-game slider. I wuz thinkin, "Duh, mai bee da AayAh ain' gittin' enuf ships t'do whut it wuntz." So, I gave it more.
But, Lordy Knows, Ah don'theenk too braht.

You limit ship numbers? I always play at 2000, and will up the max with the full Version.

Hi Seawolf!
Does this mean, that you have seen AI-minesweepers in action?
Hopefully, i was wrong, when i posted, that there are no AI-minesweepers!
Please answer me!
Thanks a lot!

Yes I have seen Ai-minsweepers in action. Of course it was after they captured one of mine so.... But they did produce more after they got mine. Also don't forget that, and I could be wrong, if ships are cloaked or using stealth armor the mines may not detect them.

No I live in Canda, which means I pay more then over night rate for 7-10 ground. Plus I ordered from C&B so they just got there copies shipped yesterday.
Bloody Americans and there BS shipping lies, I refuse to believe that when it costs more to ship from Niagra Falls Onterio to Niagra Falls Michagin then from NY to LA someone isn't pocketing the extra money.

Iīm sorry for you, that you donīt have the game yet.
Well, i donīt know what to say to your opinion - on the first look, itīs a little bit strange, even for me, that you, as a canadian, habe to wait so long.
Hmm, i often heard this by canadians in internet forums. Well, for me as a german, there is not only the time, waiting for the arival of a game, but the high price i have to pay. I think, that SE4 would cost me near to 150,-- - 170,-- Deutschmarks. Grrrrrr!
O.k., let us calm down - the game will arrive and everything will be good.

Jochen,
Why aren't you playing Europa Universalis?! I would think any German strategy gamer would be playing EU not stop. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

"I like to play "wargames" (iīm interested in military things/history - itīs my hobby, so Combat Mission is for me the hit of the year. "
An excellent game which is totally free is Steel Panthers: World At War. The only problem is that it's a huge download ! Well worth it though for any wargamer.

Hi Kent,
i know itīs a shame, but i donīt know EU. I heard about it somewhere, but, till now, i didnīt do anything to get more information about it.
Well, i try to get more info about it now, cause a lot of people are talking about this good game.
I like to play "wargames" (iīm interested in military things/history - itīs my hobby, so Combat Mission is for me the hit of the year. Even today i have a original copy of Master of Orion II, (this was my favourite game over years, so my interest at the moment is on SE4).
Thanks a lot, īhope for you, that you have the full Version - iīm still waiting for it and starting to be sorrowed.

It seems that Europa Universalis does not have a demo. Is this correct?

I second that, Adamus.
Great game, great support and totally free.
Sadly not available on a Game-Magazine
Cover CD in Germany due to content.
So, only download (MB 350) or burned CD
by nice people.
Try that on their forum. Somebody possibly
will. :-))

Maybe I could help you, but there's no email ...
Doesn't matter that much, you'll find me on the MATRIX GAME forum as well http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon10.gif
And don't forget - they have 3 games for free download - Pacific War & War in Russia as well !!!

I would be very happy, if i could play SE4, but only the demo-Version is played be me.
CM is great! too!
Well, i ask myself, how i can find the time to play such a lot - even my girlfriend asks me to often - īthink should play more with my girlfriend....

Funny thing!
It seems that the community here, does play all the same games.
I know Steel Panthers, i played it several years. The Download is to much for my old demo - btw, since Combat Mission is out, i can live without Steel Panthers (it is still a great game - but, i feel more confident with CM).
