Another newbie question. How do I drop troops onto an enemy planet? I tried attack and no luck. Tried cargo drop and the planet doesn't show.

You help would be appreciated. BTW. Is there any place I can look up these basic procedures for the game?? The Online manual is of no help.

Make a ship, add troops to its cargo holds. Now the two ways you can do this via combat are; Stragic, Tactical
St)Set the ship (fleets) mission to capture planet, hit the stragic button, and hope for the best http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
Tac)Move the ship with the troops next to the planet, from their give it the order to drop troops.

Sorry to seem so ignorant...but how do I do that in strategic? I can't control all the ships. If I do auto (no planet defenses) they just mill around.

Ok, if you click on the fleet on your main screen, up on the top you'll see a "pawn", this will allow you to the strategy for your fleet. Just choose "capture planet".

Sorry, the closest thing I see to a "pawn" is the research icon. Please be more specific. I can see how to do it in tactical, but not in strategic. Is this done BEFORE combat or during combat?

The pawn icon is on the main menu, before any combat. Its under the scrap button, and beside the Name button.
