View Full Version : Bug(?): Finite Resources and Map Generation

Potential issue:

Playing "Ancient" Quadrant style with finite resources, I get two behaviors:

(1) If the map is generated before the game is started, all planets receive 1kT values in minerals, organics, and radioactives -- no variation; and

(2) If the map is not pre-generated (and instead generated after starting the game), planets receive variable Ratings in minerals, organics, and radioactives.

I am assuming that the second behavior is what should happen, whether or not the map is pre-generated -- anyone else notice this odd behavior?

This is a known bug and should be taken care of in the next patch.

I have seen this bhavior too (at least the pre-gen 1Kt problem). Glad to hear the patch will fix it.

But.....

I have also had mineral "depleted" from all of my planets, and I am still receiving Minerals every turn....is this part of the same bug?

I would think not -- I'm not even certain that this is a "bug" or whether it reflects inadequate documentation regarding finite resources. In a finite resources game, there is even production of resources when the player has no production facilities to match -- I'm assuming that the 200kT "free" production in each Category is always there, whether one has colonies or not.

I've even had cases where I would continue to receive resources in trade even when my empire had been dismantled to the point of possessing only starships, but no colonies.

Resources are a mystery to me.
