In the Game Setup, there is a option to set the Computer Player Difficulty to Low, Medium, or High. The HTML manual just says about this...
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>This selection controls the overall difficulty level of the computer controlled players<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Does this change the actions of the AI, making it essentially "smarter", or does it make an adjustment to probability formulae?

Another related question:
Does 'High' mean high difficulty for the Computer player, or high difficulty to the human player (probably obvious to most but I'm confused...) The way it's worded implies high difficulty to the computer players. OTOH I usually associate high difficulty with the difficulty I'll have.
Cheers.

You aren't the only on that is confused about that...

Then if the difficulty isn't enough try the bonus setting also. I tried the low bonus setting before the patch and the computer seemed to research things a bit faster.

The setting indicate, I believe, how hard the computer will play you, not how hard it is for the computer. On the hard levels, the AI is very agressive and builds very fast, making it very dangerous.

Well, this is what I am hoping. On the medium setting the AI would send single warships into my territory. Even if they were slightly more technically advanced, I would easily defeat them by using multiple ships in a fleet.
