I am not exactly sure if this happened or not because I am new to the game but it appeared to occur. I am trying to replicate it (but again I am new to the game).

I was in an early war with and so I started researching Physics I. I had two turns of research left when I captured the enemy homeworld by forcing them to surrender. As part of their surrender they gave me Physics I. Now, in the research queue I was researching Physics II, but the scary thing was I still only had two turns of research left.

I'll post back later today if I can replicate it, but has anybody else experienced this?

Yes it happens that way when you are researching a field and it is given to you either through finding it on a special world or by intell operations or another race gives it to you. The research points that you have already put into that field will just apply to the next higher level of the field if there is one. Its a nice touch so that you don't lose the points that you have already spent on it.

I think what Glitch is concerned about is the fact the new level seemed to have *more* research points applied to it. The previous level had only 2 turns left so, if the RPs were transferred over 1-to-1, the higher priced higher level should have more than 2 turns left to go.

I've not seen this problem myself. The RPs seem to get transferred properly the once or twice this has happened to me.

I have confirmed that this is not a bug. The points were transferred properly. My mistake.
