View Full Version : Fighter Bug?

Has anyone had trouble launching fighters when their fleets get attacked?

See here's the thing, Everytime I move my ships to initiate an attack, every thing goes fine. But if the computers' ships attack mine, when I go into combat and go to options to launch my fighters, it's blank. Just like if I had no fighter equiped ships at all.

Oh, but it gets better. If I let the AI control my ships for a turn, it will launch my fighters for me. It can launch my fighters but I can't?!?!

That's not right!!
Has anyone else had this happen to them? It seems to happen with deploying Sats in combat also.

Yes that has happened to me. I have been doing on auto turn to get the fighters launched then. It does not happen all the time, but I have not determined what causes it.

This has happened to me also fortunately it will be fixed in the next patch. Look at the beta patch post Version 1.14 item 20.

Oops, hadn't read all the way through that post.

So I missed this Quote:

20. Fixed - If you were not the current player during a tactical combat, the
launch units window would not show your ships \planets to launch from.

My bad, sorry about that.

The changes are coming so fast that it's getting tricky to keep up with them all!

And isn't it NICE!?! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon10.gif

It sure is!! I love the fact that MM is adding new features also, not just fixing bugs.

I know some people complain about this and that in the game, the AI's not goood, no TCP/IP etc..etc.. Well there is always something in any game that can be improved. I have yet to find that absolutely perfect game. But let's face it guys, SEIV could be a lot worse!!!! It's could have been released in an unplayable bug ridden state like some unnamed game companys (all of us know a few) have the anoying habit of doing. And as it is I think SEIV is a great game, and with MM listening to us, it will only get better.

I second that Last statement.
as food for thought. as an added fighter
component or else.
How about a pure interceptor fighter ?
Cheaper but more fragile and limited. Also then necessary as an escort fighter for bombers.
As a second thought.
How about a seeker-intercept component for
fighters. Like a weak, but mobile PDC.
No other weapons allowed. Only useful against seekers.
any comments...????

The interceptor idea could be cool when facing enemys with large fighter Groups. Though this not much of a problem with the current AI. If the AI is changed, or when MM adds TCP/IP it will be more of an issue.

Considering even my light fighters eat destroyers for lunch, I am sure going to want to keep enemy fighters away from my capital ships. A faster fighter that could get out in front of my fleet and pick off some enemy fighters would be great. Hmm...maybe I'll do a little tweaking to the vehicles file and try it out http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
