I, um, feel, er, kind of dumb...he hem...Ok, well I fixed my range check error by simply turning off the ship movement lines in options. No idea how they got turned on or why they would cause such an error but boy am I glad it's fixed. Hope this helps anyone else having range check errors.

Send the info to MM. They love bug reports. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

That explains your mysterious blue lines also! LOL

Hmm, I have ship movement lines on with no problems here. Must be something about your particular rig. I'm sure that MM could use the information.

I don't use the ship movement lines but I seem to remember that they fixed an error with that in one of the patches. If you are using the demo it probably doesn't work right and if you don't have the latest patch it will probably have problems.

I recently had a range check error. I do not have movement lines on and I am working with the latest patch.

In my case I closed SEIV completely and reentered. Having been in computers for along time I decided to see what would happen if I said continue game.

Not only was I able to move the same ship but also the moves I had made previous to the range check error were saved.

I've only encountered to RCEs. One when I had about 300 fighters swarming a planet in strategic combat. And one when a WP fired at one of my ships in tactial combat. both times I reloaded, restored a save, did the exact same thing, and the RCE didn't reappear.

I tried reloading the game on mine and it still wouldn't work. Every time I tried to move my escort it gave me the error...oh well it's a moot point now, though...;-)

I have not seen any errors, but I do run a high end system so I do have a hugh amount of resources available for the game to use.(like 5 times what is recomended.)

Is there any way to turn on autosave while in the middle of a game? I started a game with Autosave Every Turn selected and it was working, for a while. But after getting involved in a number of simultaneous move PBEM games, my single player game has no longer been autosaving, causing me some distress my SEIV crashed due to it's blatant memory leak. Any suggestions?
