Can't there be a component that would allow a ship to tow other ships and stations. It would be nice if I could have the support ships of my battle fleets at least help move the warships that have been dammaged in battle so they can get out of enemy teritory faster. You could also build a station at a planet and tow it to where you want it, in case you don't have cruiser hulls for space yard ships.

Not a new topic (see earlier topics) but worth bringing up again. Some feel this would be unbalancing, others want it.

I want it. I also want to build prefabricated bases and ship them to locations in space (warp points most notably) as cargo and then have my space yard ship assemble it on location. But I'll settle for tugboats.

I like the idea and it has been said many times before. But it is still worth mentioning again. I personally don't see how it affects gameplay much. I would suggest that the prerequisite tech be Tractor Beams (Grav Tech??).
However, I don't see a whole lot of uses for it - I tend to repair or destruct damaged ships on site and don't really know if I'd want to tow them back. Maybe in a game with limited resources where you'd want to keep each and every point possible.. OTOH, if you could tow a starbase with ring / sphereworld components - now that's another story entirely...

The towing of bases with sphere/ringworld components and mining components is what I had in mind. As for the tech level, it could be a starting tech since to tow something you could just attach a cable to from a ship.
