Newbie Question: Ring/Sphere worlds

Okay, looked through the list, but did not see this answered. Have taken over the universe except for 1 blockaded planet, researched everything to research, and still do not have a movement capable ship large enough to haul these components. The only way I can figure to make these is to make a planet where you want to build one, build a shipyard, build 15 or so of the big bases with 1 component each in them, then set them off. I tried making tugboats, but the tractor beams won't work on your own ships. Am I missing something here?

You need to build spaceyard ships, take 'em to the star, and build starbases on-site -- 11 such ships should do the trick (and a LOT of time).

Thanks Taqwus...I figured I was missing something. ;-> Since it is my first universe, I figure that I might as well see all of it. I didn't use a lot of space yard ships since I had so many planets that they produced the ships I needed faster, so I didn't know all the ins and outs of their use.
