I just watched one ship take on one of my planets that had this sheild. The ship won the battle on turn 8. It was a LC. Now I know for a fact that NON of my LC's could take on a Planetairy sheild and beat it in 8 combat turns. I am really disappointed.

hmmm, seems to me that all a planetary shield protects against is missiles and the like. IF IIRC... http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

with the system one preventing the system from getting some those nastier stellar manipulations by an enemy...IF IIRC...

Atrocities: I assume you're talking about the unique tech "Massive Planetary Shielding", not the planetary shield that just prevents the planet-destroying weapons.

Unfortunately, I've only ever built one of those facilities, and ended up scrapping it later when I cleaned out that particular system and the planet was no longer in immediate danger. So I don't know how it affects combat. Can you replicate the combat in the simulator? Or even just try the combat replay (assuming you haven't continued the game so far that you can't access the replay anymore)?
