Can someone explain exactly how cloaked ships work in tactical combat in SE4?

In MOO2 you had to uncloak to fire and couldn't recloak again for 2 rounds. What are the rules on this for SE4?

Thanks.

Cloaking is purely strategic-level; *everybody* in the sector is automatically uncloaked for the duration of the fight, and nobody can re-cloak until combat's over.

Thanks. I was afraid of that.

I'd wanted to use a combination of cloaking and ramming as a prime combat tactic of my new racestyle that I'm working on. But I guess I just can't. Seemed to me that a cloaking component combined with a ramming warhead component would be great in tactical combat. Especially in smaller hulls. Guess that's out now. Too durn bad.

Does anyone know if there was any thought given to allowing ships to cloak in combat during the SE4 development process? If so, why did MM leave it out of the final Version?
