View Full Version : cumulative systemwide building bonus warning?

I tend to play organic trait races a lot and keep getting the warning 'already a facility with this system wide ability' etc.
This happens when I build a med lab in a system with the breeding vats. Also occurs when I build pacification centers.

The med lab provides happiness + population growth, breeding vats give population growth. I want happiness + population growth at the highest level, either combined or highest of available. Which am I getting.

Just to argue a little more, the happines provided by a med lab and a pacification center are for completely different things. (good general health of populace versus low crime rate + 'justice') so they should be cumulative. :-)
Same goes for med lab + breeding vats.... many more births and fewer deaths.

If anyone can clear this up for me, I'll be thankful.

The problem with those guys is that they have several abilities, not all of which overlap. The warning comes on whenever an overlap is discovered even if the facility in question has non-overlapping abilities. So if you build a Medlab in a system with a gestation vat, the population growth bonus from the two facilities causes the warning, but you would want the medlab anyway because of its plague prevention effect and happiness.

Right now you are getting both modifiers (summed). This is a bug and fixed under v1.23:

>33. Fixed - System level point modifiers were being summed instead of max'd

Then you'll get the better part of each component when they overlap.

Actually, you aren't always getting the sum of the modifiers. When building a gestation vat and a med lab in the same system, you won't get the % growth increase for the med lab (unless they're both level 1, in which case it doesn't matter)

The problem seems to occur most often with facilities that give a bonus to your resource production.
