When using a new engine design - Upgrading a ship design from the Ion Engine III (1 MV point/engine) to the Contra-Terrene Engine (1 MV point, 1 Bonus MV point/engin) - I only get one total extra movement point (5 MV points to 6 MV points). Shouldn't this go to 10 MV points or is the bonus not cumulative???
Thanks,
Hades

I may be wrong, but, I think that I noticed that if I upgrade from 'Type' Engine I to 'Type' Engine II, there appears to be no gain in movement. If this is the case, then why even bother upgrading engines until you get to another type of engine?

Spyder - it lowers the cost. A lot of people have modified the type II and type III Version of each engine type to consume 9 and 8 supplies, respectively (instead of the normal 10) to differentiate them more.
