I started a game and it looks like some of the mod races get eliminated almost immediately. I started a game and the Darloks were one of the races loaded so I set it to play as a human player so I could see what it would do. When I got to the Darlok's turn, it flashed the "You Lose" screen and they vanished.
The randomly generated races use the text files, right?

"What do -you- want?" "I'd like to live -just- long enough to be there when they cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a warning to the next ten generations that some favors come with too high a price. I would look up into your lifeless eyes and wave like this..." *waggle* "...can you and your associates arrange that for me, Mr. Morden?"

yup, they sure do.
IIRC, the random neutral ones use the generic AI_files and the random custom one's use whatever AI_files that the author made for them....
Strange indeed.

I started a game with just Darloks and a "custom" race of mine. went thru 100 turns and didn't notice anything unusual.

Maybe the new 1.27 AI is so much better than 1.19 that they just got wiped out? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

hehe, I lost one in 10 turns once....darn AI came in with a frigate at turn 8...wiped out HW, then spun and wiped out the 1 colony i had...
I changed my tactics slightly after that! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon12.gif

Well, I looked a bit more carefully and found that the General.txt file for the Darloks has "Gas" for planet type instead of "Gas Giant".
Which probably explains why the game tried to start them on a warp point before I noticed it. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
