Atrocities

AvP is a horrible horrible crappy ultra omega uber crappy movie of epic and mega proportions. It sucks on a scale that is greater than the pull of a super massive black hole on steroids.

This movie is the worst movie I have ever seen.

LOL, tell us what you really think, Atrocities, and don't hold back http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif.

Geez AT. I could have told you not to go just from what I was unfortunate enought to witness on TV. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Hmm, well I was living in hope and was going to see it. I always had a sort of dread from what I have seen of it but was going to give it a chance, as I said hoping it would turn out well. I am not going solely on Atrocities view but I have also seen a description of the movie (I'm not the sort of person to avoid spoilers) and the more I discover the less I am enthusiastic. I doubt I could be bothered now.

Edit: anyone know if Hellboy is a good view instead?

Thanks for the warning, I don't think I'll go see Alien vs Predator then...

Last week I saw Spider-man 2. I liked it. It was better than the first movie. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hell Boy was a decent movie. Certainly not one of the best, but not bad.

Let's say they made a Movie based on MOO3. Would you say AvP is worse than a movie based on MOO3, or better?

Well the one thing MoO3 had was a good atmosphere and some interesting story in the manual, and opening movie, it was the gameplay that kinda makes it suck for many. I think a great miniseries could be made from the MoO3 universe.

That Question is ultimately pointless because we all know if there was a movie based on Space Empires it would be amongst the sci-fi greats, and trash any movie on MOO3 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Thanks for the honest review. I have a friend that is going to see the movie tonight. I'll give him a warning, but this guy liked the movie 'Cable Guy' with Jim Carrey (which imho sucked rocks) so he will probably get a thrill out of the movie.

I wasn't planning on going to see AvP and now those plans are good as gold. LOL

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I don't know your "young lady" and her preferences but i've found these kind of films are not the best kind to woo the ladies.

My friends went and saw "Bourne Supremacy" the other day, They have recommended it highly

Bourne Supremacy was a good movie, except for one thing. It had a different director than Bourne Identity, and this guy decided to do all the action scenes (and there are a lot) in a truly annoying "shaky-cam" style. I'd still recommend seeing it, just bring a barf bag or two with you.

Well, at least it was a little better than Alien3. It was pretty stupid, though. Pointless plot, logical inconsistencies, and how long do you think someone can survive in the Antarctic standing around in a t-shirt???

That movie, and no offence to the brits, but each time they helm an Alien movie we end up with crap.

I mean here they had this radical concept, a concept that has helmed three great games, and they toilet it with this utter FUBAR'ed story about antartica and crap.

OMG what a horrible movie, how in the hell did they ever get studio approval for this tripe?

(And ya, Aliens 3 was equally as horrible.)

I rented HellBoy on a sceptical whim and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Try it if you've considered it. It's a bit cheesy, and not as bloody or supernatural as you might expect. YMMV

what are your expectations when you see these movies.

Do you go for plot and acting and storyline ?

Or do you go to watch background, camera shooting, cgi and action sequences.

I always feel that these movies should be rated on the second.

Occasionally you get the bonus of the plot or a good story line. Even some times some acting. Take I Robot. It actually had an ok plot and an ok storyline.

Last night i watch underworld. it was ok. good background. great soundtrack. 5.1 was fantastic. everything else was predictable. Would I recommed it. If you have a good surround system then yea, take it for a ride. If you like things that go bump in the night and action movies. Then my rating of it changes from an ok movie to a good movie.

Don't get me started on that film *laughs* It was quite well done visually and the soundtrack was great. Now, if they had a half decent plot and kate beckingsale could act it might have been something better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I'm sorry to hear the movie AvP stunk like stinky socks after walking 5 miles in black shoes.

Personally I try to divide movies up into two Groups.
1) Uber good movies with plot and story that you walk out of the theater thinking "awesome movie"
2) Pure brain candy. Little or no plot what so ever, but if you check the logical part of your brain at the entrance, you can still enjoy it.

That being said, perhaps AvP should be the ol' cheap theater experience, or maybe a renter eh?

Richard and I saw three movies while on vacation in July: I Robot, Spiderman 2 and The Bourne Supremacy.

Richard and I both thought Spiderman 2 was the best of the three...after that though we differ...he liked The Bourne Supremacy next followed by I Robot....I liked the reverse. The very thing that he liked in The Bourne Supremacy was the very thing I hated, which was the chase scene/action scenes. I absolutely HATE the "shaky-cam" style of action scenes. I am watching the movie, I prefer a 3rd person view. I want to see the whole scene and I think the jerky camera stuff is a cheap way out of doing really good action scenes. He thought the chase scene and the camera style was effective and that it was one of the best action sequences he has ever scene.

Oh well, to each his own. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Ok, saw the movie, and unlike Atrocities, I kind of liked the movie. I've read the original comic mini-series, and although the movie was nowhere as good as that, it had it's moments. My main complaint about the film was that it was shot too darkly. You won't be able to watch it on dvd or HBO during the day, unless you got a really dark tv room.

I know movies come out on DVD about a month after it opens these days, but surely it is too soon to be renting HellBoy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/confused.gif. Even if you downloaded it.

I'm in a quandry. My wife didn't want me to go see this film due to the fact that the name is Hellboy. I didn't try to explain to her that he's a demon working on the side of the angels. I don't think I've even read any of the comics. She said she didn't want anything like that in the house. I don't know what the big thing is, though. He looks a whole lot better than Darth Maul, and my wife definitely hates him. Well, she knew better than try to stop me from getting a Star Wars movie, but she won't watch it again. I'm debating on whether or not to incur my wife's wrath my buying the Hellboy movie. Would it be worth it?

Fyron

If you really, really like pulp fiction type comics, it might be worth it.
