Is there a way to modify the number of systems that have planets in a given quadrant type? Maybe it's just random bad luck, but I'm repeatedly starting new games to discover that half (sometimes more) of the systems have no plamets in them. In the Last one, ten of the first 15 systems I explored had no planets at all?! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif

What kind of quadrant game setup did you use? IIRC Ancient gives lots of dead stars and asteroid belts. Try using Dense Cluster - that usually gives a pretty good number of planets.

Have you tried using Fyron's Quadrant Mod? Tons of planets there and some great additions like random movement, etc.

Mid life, Galatic edge, Ancient, Large size. Haven't seen dense cluster? Guess I'll give the mod a shot, thanks for the tip!

Ooops! Sorry, I think Dense Cluster was in the FQM... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/redface.gif Well, you should check it out anyways. You can build quicker IMO with that mod (if that's what you're after). If you're looking for long, epic games, check out AIC or Proportions.

I don't think I've played a stock game for over a year at least.

G'Day Star Jack.
In the data directory, have a look at the QuadrantTypes.txt file.
In this file, contains the starting chances of each type of system for each quadrant type.
You can remove all the dead systems for a particular quadrant.
Make sure you backup this file before modifing it however.

Additionaly, FQM has Paradise quadrants, which have nothing but solar systems (well, a few nebulae here and there for good measure, but very few non-planet systems).
