Hey everyone,

im in need of some game tips. In a recent game enemies are showing up in my sectors. I dont have defenses yet, so i decided to rush some mines. Now the problem is i need to construct the mines AND launch them BEFORE the enemy reaches my planet (all in one turn)

If i set my planet to build mines and choose the "remote launch" mines button, will the mines be constructed and launched before the movement phase (i.e. before the hostile ships attack my planet) or what will happen ?

thanks a bunch !!

All construction happens *after* movement (on the Last day of a month), so it will not work this way. If your planet is still alive at the end of the turn, it will have built mines, and you will then be able to launch them before any movement can occur (so if the enemy ship is one sector away from your planet, the mines will be deployed before it gets there).

It is also why you may find it difficult to colonise planets in systems controlled by the enemy; you need to colonise the planet and then build mines for one turn without losing the planet in the process.

That's why I mostly put some mines on the colonisers together with the colonists !!

yep thanks...unfortunally the enemy will reach my planet in the turn the mines are constructed, so i wont help launching them the next turn since the enemy already is in the sector then.

thanks anyway. I guess i have to stick with conventional warfare then http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Or later in the game you could use the light cruiser (400kt) as an colony vessel.

- Extra engine
- more cargo (mines, sats, Wp and even some troops if game is multiplayer)

hey another question, please help.

I tried to simulate the battle, but the planet which will be enganged (with the cargo i have) wont show up in the simulator. I can only choose the planets from my home systems to participate in the combat.

whats the deal here ? TY !!

Does the planet have any means to figh tback, ie weapon platforms?
If it can't fight I don't belive it will show up in the list.

Only objects within your homesystem (and a single homesystem) can be used in the simulator. So, you can only put the star of your homesystem, the wormholes of your homesystem, and the planets of your homesystem.

You should be able to work out around this problem by using another planet and giving it the cargo of your planet. The feature enabling this is "Change Cargo for player" if memory serves (I am not sure about the actual label)

ah i found the problem, it was exactly as Alneyan said. Thanks a bunch, i just hope my defences are enough to fight the enemy back or at least hold him off.

I do alittle bit beatter if I build a Weapons Platform first. It skips a step (doesnt need launched).

As the launching occurs before everything else in a turn, there is no real tactical advantage of weapons platforms over mines. Just a bit less micromanaging and less prone to errors like forgetting to launch them.
